Even though Karl Didin't acknowledge the accomplishments of Tech in the trophy presentation (fist time I have ever heard of that happening) Conratulations to Tech for a wonderful season and all you accomplished this year.

To UT also congrats. You played hard and took advantage of the opportunities presented. Congrats to Noah and his hard work.

Good luck to UT in the national tournament. Represent the LSA well and make us all proud to be playing (and watching) the great sport of lacrosse in the great state of Texas.

Could anyone that was at the LSA Championships post game details?!? I didn't attend and would love to know more than "techs accomplishments weren't mentioned after the game"
Thanks!

ok so pretty much tech came out early on top of UT and held a 10-4 lead at one point. In the second half, the Tech offense was really stalled, but the biggest advantage for UT was the transition game. They scored some clutch fast break goals at the end, including the tying one that really swung the momentum and the game in their favor, and two of them were like ten seconds apart. the game winning 11th goal was scored on a settled dodge from the side by freshman middie stephen brandewie and then UT scored again and just ran out the clock at that point with possession pretty much the whole last 3 minutes. it was a great game to watch though, you should have been there (except it was bright as hell so the sun was killer)

what about the karl lynch not mentioning tech thing?

oh also, d2 got a trophy at the end of the game this year which is new (said karl)

You are kidding right? I didn't get the presentation correct.

Anthing else? Probably need to go ahead and get it out in the open. I am a big boy and I can take.

Even coming from someone who won't use his name when posting.

You didn't hand the trophy over right, but how would I know? I'm over 500 miles away.

Congratulations to the 2006 LSA Champions:

LSA Division A: University of Texas

LSA Division B: Southwestern University

Congratulations to the LSA Division A playoff teams for getting that far this year: North Texas, Rice, Texas A&M, Texas State University, and Texas Tech.

The same goes to the LSA Division B playoff teams: St. Edwards, Trinity, and University of Texas at Arlington for being part of the 2006 LSA Division B Final Four.

All of the teams including the champions deserve pats on the back for perseverance and for exhibiting class on the field.

Represent LSA well at the USLIA Nationals.

The photos courtesy of J.Kotarski of Southwestern University are up at the Southwestern University website (this photographer's email is listed as well):

http://www.southwestern.edu/student-life/sira/Lax/LSA-event.html

When you get to that website, just scroll down and you will find the April 29 photos for the following games:

Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech
Texas vs. Texas State University
UTA vs. Southwestern
Trinity vs. St. Edwards

The photos for the LSA Div. A and B championships should be up possibly tomorrow.

Great pictures for the weekend. Thanks to Southwestern for making those available! (Except for the wide-angle closeup of my butt that looks big enough to use as a movie screen at the drive in theater. At least they got my best side!) :D

I think G'Burg lax is talking about the fact karl that you didn't congratulate Tech on making the trip and finishing 2nd or being confrence champions. The only comment was that they kept us scoreless in the 2nd half. (After reading the post I commented on it to my mom and she said that it was a little wierd not having you do that.) You gotta remember that losing in the championship hurts the second place team especially when they self destruct. All and all it was a good game and a very well run championship weekend. Congrats to UT and get'em at nationals.

Sorry Karl. I didn't mean to make a big deal over this. The purpose of the post was to congratulate Tech on their season and to congratulate UT on their victory.

It was just that it would have been nice if the conference director presenting the conference trophy would have mentioned the fine job and season tech had after losing such a heartbreaking game so their fans could salute them one more time (several people/players commented on it as they left the field).

Perhaps I'm just too "old school" (or maybe just too old) or maybe east coast lacrosse is just different than here in Texas, but it seems that the traditions of the game are falling by the wayside. When I played in the 70's I learned the traditions of honor, hard work, sacrifice, and fair play on the 'field of battle' taught to me by my father who played in the 40's and my grandfather who played in the 20's. Lacrosse was special then, more of a brotherhood than just a game. We all felt 'special' to be able to play the game and felt bound by the traditions. And yes, we drank beer together after the games (clearly a different age). Perhaps in our zeal to bring the game to more people, we lost some of the traditions along the way. For me, that is sad, because I hate to see lacrosse become just another game.

As to your comment that I should sign my name to every post- the reason I don't sign my name is that I have sons that are still playing lacrosse and I don't want to cause them any grief over what their 'old man' says in a posting on some webpage (yes, I have seen and heard comments and repercussions over what is posted on a webpage).

This way, rather than attacking the person expressing the views, it is the opinions and thoughts expressed that are the most important, and it allows the substance of the opinion to be considered on its own merits, rather than attaching some outside meaning to them (except of course, when the post is of importance to have come from the league so that the 'genuiness' of the post can be ascertained.)

To all the players who played this year- Congratulations on your seasons. You are part of a very special group of people ( at least one 'old-timer' thinks so). Regardless of whether your team won or lost, you are playing a game that is steeped in history and tradition. Please keep it alive.
