5 private schools make the final 8.

Looks like Milton will be at Wesleyan on Saturday. The only 1st round game left is Walton at Lassiter tonight at 5:30pm.

Walton 4
Lassiter 14

Talked to a Lassiter dad, sounds like it really wasnt much of a game. Lassiter jumped out to a 4-0 lead very quickly.

St. Pius is going to have a very tough time on Saturday

Quarterfinals are confirmed for this Saturday:

1. St. Pius at Lassiter
2. Milton at Wesleyan

3. Westmister at Lovett
4. Roswell at Pace

St Pius did not play Lassiter in the Regular season. Neither did Wesleyan and Milton or Roswell & Pace. Lovett beat Westminster in OT about a month ago.

Agreed ....

I've seen Lassiter early in the season and late in the season .....

My impressions of the team from early in the season is that they seemed sluggish; were a little sloppy on offense; in general, they seemed to lack a little intensity and enthusiasm ... and the seniors at that time hadn't seemed to step up and exhibit that senior leadership and inspiration as in previous years ....

My impressions of the team from late in the season has proven to me that all the above has changed ....

The entire team seems to be peaking right now - they seem to play with a little more urgency and intensity while remaining very loose on the field (when I played tennis competitively it was called "relaxed concentration" ...). The seniors have stepped up. They've played Holy Innocents, Wesleyan (W: 19-9), and Walton (W: 14-4) the last three games and have jumped all over those teams early and didn't let up ....

I'd like to see a good game on Saturday with St. Pius and Lassiter - but St. Pius will really have to dig deep ....

I can't say whether Lassiter's "peaking" will be enough to carry them to a State title, considering that they'll probably have to go through Lovett (who seem to peak every game!). But it'll be an interesting next couple of weeks ....

Talk about a hard time on Saturday for Pius.... they didn't score one time.

Finals:
Lassiter 13, St. Pius 0
Pace 11, Roswell 5
Lovett 12, Wesminster 5

Roswell and Pace were tied 5-5 at the half before Pace got cooking in the 2nd half.

Yeah I was there, I think Pius got off 2 shots the first half. Lassiter controlled the game from start to finish and the game was honestly never in doupt. Lassiter scored quick in the first quarter and it didn't look like the Pius goalie ever woke up.

Big ups to my boy John Huggins (Lassiter Midfield, 2007) for coming back from a nasty ankle injury that kept him on the sideline most of the year and getting a great goal from about 15 yards out.

Yea, it was nice to see Jonathan get a goal in that game ... actually, it was just good to see him back on the field again.

I was there shooting the game. Photos at: Lassiter Men's Varsity photos.

The semi-final for Lassiter will be interesting. Not only will it be a tough game with Milton, but for the first time in about 3 years, Lassiter will have to play a playoff game on the road .... we'll see how they handle that strange occurence ....

It's Lovett vs. Lassiter in the state championship for the 3rd straight year.

Lassiter beat Milton (@ Milton) 12 - 7 tonight. Heard that Lovett beat Pace like 14 - 5.

I believe the final championship game will be Saturday afternoon at Lovett @ 3:00pm.

Final game is confirmed for a 3pm start tomorrow afternoon at Lovett. Should be a good game, but if Hicks is on his game - I don't see how Lassiter can control him or limit Lovett's offense.

More like Lassiter demolishes Lovett 17 - 8. Lassister lead the whole way, enjoyed a 2-goal lead at the half and 2-goal lead after 3 quarters. The Trojans ripped off like 7 unanswered to start the final quarter. Very suprising result, to say the least.

Lassiter is the first ever public school unanimous state champion in boys lacrosse. Heard over on the girls side that Milton beat Wesminster (@ Westminster) to earn their 2nd straight state championship.

The public schools really shined today.
