Minnesota Boys High School Lacrosse for 4/24-4/30

Postby Jester on Tue Apr 25, 2006 11:31 am

I don't think that Libra is making the biggest difference. If any of the other four guys on offense can't at least move the ball to them, decent defenses will be all over them. I would guess it is more the rest of the team being fundamentally sound this year.

None of Blake's guys would be as good, either, if they didn't have five other players who can create space for themselves at any given moment. Each are capable, but sum of the parts and all that.

AHA's defense is maybe the bigger story to me. I think EP will be a good measuring stick, and if they can be held to single digits, it will say good things about the team's ability to win playoff games by avoiding a horserace.

They did have libra last year. He's a significantly different player this year.

Nope...we only graduated 2 starters from last years "upset team"....

On the Holy Angels factor...if you have 2 solid defensemen, you shouldnt have a trouble with Hurley or Libra.....they both do a great job of finding one another, and if you slide early...ive noticed the tendency of them forcing the ball...they are great players...but to beat AHA, the goalie is where you do it....

BSM has a lot of guys that have been involved with the program and are now maturing into their roles. They also filled the spots they lost last year which were limited. The coching staff has done a good job of growing the program slowly as far as offensive and defensive philosophies. Rob, Colin and the rest of the staff have done a great job over there. I would expect some good things from them this year!

I didn't mean surprised like wow BSM sucks, I was just fairly impressed with how EP played as a team early on this year against us. Also, I haev heard good things before this about BSM, look out for them, sounds like they earn their claim as the number 2 team in state right now.

Also, I have gotten 5 polls, if I could get a few more before tomorrow night I could make a poll before this weekend then go on Sundays from here on out.

IMPORTANT: I talked to Sam and I am in charge of making the poll and one topic every Sunday after this initial one. We cna post the schedule whomever can, just make sure it is in the ONE high school lax topic, Poll then Mondays games will be out Sunday, then we can predict then Monday put Tuesdyas games etc...

AGAIN, I have votes from Graff, Horn, Fleck, Hammer and myself, I would like to get 5 more pollsters...anyone?

I'd bite if you don't mind a person who hasn't seen any games, and is mostly just shooting in the dark.

Tuesday, April 25, 2006
Academy of Holy Angels 14

one other interesting score.

Closer that expected? or indication that Woodbury has improved? Something else?

Yeah, we a varsity program in the school's eyes..they pay for everything.... A lot of schools think its a big deal, but the coaches dont understand the painstaking process it is to always keep an inventory...i thnk we are going to sell off the helmets and just provide gloves....

Not that I'm making excuses for the close score with woodbury, but that night it was about 40 degrees and very windy. While teams should play above the weather, it could be a reason for it. Also, Woodbury has a pretty good face-off middie #10 (I believe) so anything could have happened if he had a great game. I have not personally seen Apple Valley play this year, but I have heard that they are not as strong as last season, but thats just what I heard. It will be interesting to see how their game tonight against Blake goes. So to answer your questions, I think it was a little of all three.

predictions

Postby Hammer23 on Wed Apr 26, 2006 4:48 pm

My thoughts on tonight:

Blake over Apple Valley by 5
Benilde over Champlin Park by 8
Centennial over Irondale by 7
Kennedy over Stillwater by 6
Eagan over Lakeville by 9
Prior Lake over Shattuck by 3
Totino Grace over Hill-Murray by 8

Good luck to all tonight!
