who cares about this???? its nice to see the entire LSA arguing about who should be all-league instead of focusing on getting more than one team into the National Champs that are being hosting by the league (in the LSAs home territory, at least). cant someone please focus on winning some OOC games or representing the league at the National Championships well enough to not finish last place again.
peace.

Not trying to be deceptive Karl, I'm not THAT good with numbers. I was trying to get put each teams 4 toughest games vs. LSA opponents... it's not perfect but I think it's relatively fair. That method was merely an attempt to exclude any rediculous 5-10 individual scoring games against less competitive squads ... kinda similar I guess to laxpower's 10-goal limit correction.
If nothing else, it is interesting. I have to say though, after finding all that, it's incredible that Plominski from Tulane didn't get any attention.
From UNT, it's not Singleton, but Emberey that I'm most surprised by. The only game I saw him in was against us, though.

jessexy, the LSA Div. A teams went 18-19 (approximately) in OOC play, including 12 games against Top 25 ranked teams, this season. By no means nothing to write home about, but it's certainly improvement from last season.
Karl,
Yeah ... about Plominski ... oops. My bad.

If anyone has issues with the way All-League is determined then players should contact their team representatives and have them bring a motion at the Fall meeting to discuss changes. Personally, I think all of this discussion does nothing but diminish the awards these players have won based on the coaches voting. There are a lot of great players in this conference and only a small number will be selected for All-League honors. I think the results speak highly to the diversity of talent on all of our respective teams, regardless of how these teams end up at the end of the season.
Congratulations to all the players receiving awards.

Like I said, I haven't seen many of these guys play and don't know much about them. I have seen quite a bit of the UNT guys but I couldn't possibly comment on how they rank with the guys who made 2nd and 3rd simply because I haven't seen them. So, to clarify things, are most people upset with the players who made all-league or just the order of the all-league players (1st, 2nd, etc.)? In other words, were the top 9 middies and top 9 atttackman chosen but maybe a guy on 3rd should have made 2nd, etc?

Somewhat. UNT's Corbin Embry is neither first or second team material. Definately deserved at least an honorable mention and maybe 3rd team honors. Also, Benji's stats are not at all deceptive - those 4 teams were the hardest teams to beat in conference play: TT, UT, A&M, TSU. What is deceptive are stats against teams that are sub par. You can't measure the quality of a player when he is not challenged. Just because you can rack up 10+ points a game against some division B squad or the bottom of the A division means nothing especially in a conference as weak as the LSA. The standard that players in the LSA have to be held against are their performance in games vs the top 4 LSA teams and OOC opponents. When a guy like Embrey can only tally 2 goals and one assist against the top 4 teams COMBINED, not to metion getting shut completely out against Tech, you have to wonder why on earth anyone thought this guy should be on 1st Team. Thats a bad call and anyone with a brain knows it. Also, Gentry should have made AA, not Singleton. Just compare numbers and strength of schedule. I think the voters wanted to spread out AA's equally so everyone got a better chance at having a player nominated. If I'm right about that then that has got to be the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. That kind of blatant self-interest and manipulation cheats guys out of honors that really deserve it. What is this some contrived form of affirmative action? Who cares if some or even most teams get left out as long as we have the guys who earned their way on the field getting honored.

I think that this is the case.... The only thing that I think was a huge problem was that Wiedmer should have been placed as 1st team. Reid is a strong guy at the face offs but isn't that spot on the all-confrence list for specialists? Reid won AA and 1st team middie, it seems to me that you should leave the specialist spots for LSMs and FOGOs. just my two cents.

yeah i agree with texlaxer. but also, even those stats benji put up are misleading b/c there are so many factors that go into a process like this (meaning award selections) that the margin for error is unfortunately significant. who knows if someone was hampered by injury a game, or maybe he scored the majority of his points in the fourth quarter on the back up defense and goalie in a particular game. i mean, unless sports writers are going to give out the awards and actually know the aforementioned details, we'll have to be satisfied with the process - notoriety and stats - or whatever it is.

If this is such and big deal to players in the LSA, then I will gladly give up my 1st team spot for someone who "deserves" it. I would rather have the LSA Championship award! The votes are in and this will not change. You guys have been complaining for the last two days about why your teammate should be on top. I pretty sure I speak for most of the people who have been reading these posts but get over it and come support the league in G'town this weekend. We have bigger fish to fry than worring about who got which awards. Why not work on improving our league. That is all i have to say...

well done, lets add 1st team diplomat to his award (specialist position?)
