o once again the National poll is released today with 5 of the RMLC teams being in the top 25.
4. Utah Valley State College (1 First Place Vote) - 463 pts
10. Northern Colorado - 321 pts
11. Montana State University - 303 pts
12. Fort Lewis College - 277 pts
25. Western State College - 50 pts
Congrats to all teams that are included and way to make a strong showing in the polls for the RMLC. Quite possibly the best showing by a conference? (WCLL with 3 teams in and all top 10....) although I have to bring an issue up with the polls concerning t.
Fort Lewis has lost to UVSC (by 9), Mont. St (by 5), and Western State (by 4) ALL pretty larger margins. They do have an overall record of 7-3 but a SOS (Strength of Schedule) ranking of 67 out of 88. As well as ranked 42 on laxpower.
So I have to beg the question " How does Fort Lewis get voted 12 in the nation with 255 pts?"
Does there win over UNC (by 1 goal) give them that much credit?
Western lost to UNC (by 1), Mont. st (by 3), UVSC (by 5), Mines (by 6) and beat Ft. Lewis (by 4). As well as being ranked 31 on laxpower.
We held Mont. to 8 goals when they put up 19 on Fort. Held UNC to 7 goals while they scored 10 on fort. Held UVSC to 13 while they scored 17 on fort........
So why such the big gaps in the first four teams and Western? Does the Mines loss weigh that much against Western? How is Fort above us let alone so much higher?
This is NOT to bag on or attack Fort Lewis but more so to see justification from voters or other players in our league on how or why the polls are how they are?

Nobody else has questions about the polls or concerns or care? No response from Fort or others?

Western has a record of 6-6 this year. Your strength of schedule rating is 66.1 according to Lax Power. So what you beat Fort Lewis and who cares if you lost to other teams by less. A loss is a loss. The stats speak for themself and therfore so do the ratings.

The polls have always been sorta strange, especially concerning certain southern teams in the RMLC div B. Congrats to Western finishing in the top 25

It's been said over and over, but let me say it one more time... laxpower rankings aren't worth anything. They have UVSC ranked #14 is that where you would put them? Probably not. They have UNC ranked #27 is that where you would put them?
I am not a voter, however I would like to point out the differences I see:
1) FLC and MSU both beat A Division Utah State where as Western lost to Utah State.
2) Western has 2 loses to unranked opponents where as FLC and MSU both have none.
The other thing that I would mention is that the job of being a voter isn't very easy when you are trying to keep track of each team in every conference. It's very difficult to keep all 88 teams on your radar screen. Maybe now Western is on more radar screens and next year you will get some more love.
