PNCLL Week #13 (4/19-4/25) -- Predict, Scores & Discuss

Not sure that if there is an attendance record, that it would be broken.... The Duck-Beaver game starts only an hour before the Lumberjax home playoff game.

There is really not enough room at Delta Park. Bleachers will be on one side of the field, and the field is at the top of a small hill, with limited room around the outside (fenced). Realistically, with about 16 men's teams at the tournament, many will probably go to the Jax game, but lots will stick around to watch the college game. There will already be more than a handful pros playing, going to a Jax game may not have much more draw for them than staying at the field, drinking a beer, heckling the officials, & not having to drive with the terrible Oregon drivers....

Two games come to mind for me:

1) the 1997 PNCLL Finals at Delta Park were held on the Sunday afternoon of the PNLA Tourney. There were probably 800 fans or so who watched Simon Fraser beat Whitman in overtime.

2) The 2001 "Apple Cup" between the Huskies and Cougars. We had about 150 fans watching the game on the old grass field which has been replaced by our new home FieldTurf IMA #3. Then an afternoon UW-UCLA basketball game let out from Hec Ed Pavilion during our second half, and the basketball fans on their way to the parking lot swelled our lacrosse attendance to at least 1,000, for a few minutes anyway. The Cougs won that game in triple-overtime on a goal by 9th-year Senior Ryan Kelly

Yeah the fan area around the main turf at Delta Park is quite cramped, I know last year it was packed with sponsors and stuff too. Don't know if records will be set.

But speaking of attendance, what about at Tigard next week? Is it gonna be at their football field? That should hold a lot of people if so.

Oregon jumped out early on OSU to take a 9-0 lead after one quarter and went on to win 15-7. There was a larger crowd but a lot left at half time to make the lumberjax postseason opener

It looks like it will be WWU vs. SOU in one of our B semis next week, and PLU vs. Montana in the other. It should be fun to watch. Hopefully we'll find out soon what happened in the A division this weekend and set the playoff field.

When the results are in for this weekend we will know all of the details. . .but for the B division we now know the Saturday schedule at Tigard High School.

PLU at Montana at 11AM
Southern Oregon at Western Wash. at 2PM

I just wanted to get that out there for parents and others that are planning to make the trip to watch these games.

for any of you who care, Laxcamps.com (the team danny and I played for) beat Olympic club on a last second shot to win the tourney. It was really an awesome game, and was the best lacrosse I personally have ever been surrounded with. Enjoy the rest of the season boys. GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!
