Which middie would you want to start building your team with? Support your answer, PM me if you'd like someone added, sorry if I missed you.

The only problem with this is that Butterwegge doesnt play middie, he is an attack.

The true test of a player's character is not how he wins, but how he loses.

missing something

Postby Movin' a Couch on Fri Apr 21, 2006 1:27 am

I think size should be taken into account here if we're talking about building a team around a player. Middies do have to play D, and I know that I've been run over a few times by guys like Mack and Whitehead who outweigh me by 30, 50, 100lbs. It would be hard to anchor a team, doing everything that a middie is responsible for doing, when you aren't that big. However, skill- and stick-wise, Bagley and Thilo on Western are the best middies I've seen in action this year.

There also has to be some credit given towards Kyle McWhirter from WOU. He is 12th in the league in points per game with only Whitehead, Hushagen, and Schuit on this list doing better.

quoted for emphasis, offense isn't everything when it comes to midfield, they have a lot of other responsibilities.

Bagley's speed and quickness most certainly makes up for his size. Lacrosse is a sport that stands on its own because of the fact that you don't have to be huge just to have an impact on the game. And i'm not just speaking to offense. Bagley's rides are ridiculous, i have never seen a kid throw a wrap check with such speed and accuracy, and before his victim even knows the ball has been taken jake has possession and is blazing for the back of the net. Could run and gun with the best in the west, hands down. But then again, i'm just a biased team mate. Best middie cannon i have seen is WWU's 13, red cleats.

speaking from someone who is being metioned with these guys jake bagley is the best middie I have seen in this league. the kid is insane, he shots hard and like kevin said rides like its no ones business and plays defense the same exact way. also if your talking about middies in this league you cant help but mention jaime pyke, kevin stout, whitney murphy, dave malcom and gabe krenza. yes they are teammates of mine but I due feel that they are top middies in our league.
