I understand from BYU's website that they won this scrimmage...any word on how they looked?

They looked alright. They came out a bit harder than against Utah but still not smooth. They were clearly dominant in all aspects of the game and the 3rd teamers looked much better this time around than their first scrimmage. Of course UVSC isn't the highest caliber opponent to measure BYU against. Tuesday's game will be interesting. Go Cougs!

Just wondering if there was any truth to the rumors that UVSC is packing a 25-30 guy roster this year? How did they look on offense/defense?

I didn't count the number of players but it was considerably more than last season when they only had a handful of substitutes. 25-30 is a good estimate of the numeber of players out there.

So how did UVSC look out there offensively and defensively. I know they lost Preston at attack, and their 1st-Team RMLC-B defender...just wondering who is stepping up to fill their shoes.

Honestly....they looked better than last year from what I remember but I really wasn't paying attention to UVSC. They'll come out and play hard and you better be ready to go but that's about all I can say. I really don't concern myself with them nor do I care that much either.

Looking at the game from the UVSC sideline, we did some things that were much improved from our last game against the U. Our D could have used some obvious work (giving up 19) but tyler horne played a great game back there and showed serious leadership. Tommy Mcneilis (#1, LSM) is a returning all american and will be a hand full for any team. He's fast, and he never stops running. The Offense looked better in the 2nd half, but couldn't really control the ball and and get things settled on our side of the field. BYU showed us that transition is everything, scoring on a number of fast breaks and missing few chances. UVSC has a lot to work on, but it was a promising game for us as we start on the regular season.

You bring up some good points. Losing Dave Preston is a big hit to the squad on the offensive side of the field. Losing Lehrky (Div-B All-American) is a significant loss, but they added Kevin Trost back from a two year mission. He was the RMILL D-MVP 3 years ago. Kevin got a concussion in the Utah game, so he played limited time, but it was a different ball game when he was in there. He is a HUGE presence in the middle complimenting returning all-conference/all-american players- Tyler Horne (D) and Tommy McNeilis (LSM). UVSC attack benefitted from BYU transfer, Freshman, Tory Leavitt, and Utah transfer Eddie Godnick. BYU looked strong, but it shouldn't be hard for BYU to look strong against any Div. B opponent. BYU will be tough this year. I am excited to watch their great home schedule. UVSC has talent and great leadership from their seniors, it should be interesting to see how the season plays out, especially in Boise and Durango.
