Well, that's why I believe they should have us do unannounced stick checks, because then we'll have at least some chance of weeding out the intentional cheaters.

I seem to recall a ref somewhere along the way telling me that you can call a stick check on someone on the bench as well. Is this true? Or does the stick have to be on the field at the time?

Any player can be inspected, on bench or not.

Yes, you can pull the stick of a player on the bench and I do it whenever I suspect a player might have illegal equipment and decides to sub out right before it's stick check time.

Does that player have to be on the roster??? ie; a redshirted freshman....

Another question is does a stick check on the sideline have to be on a player or can it be on any stick that you see on the sideline of your opposition?

Sorry just a couple of things I was curious about.

Thanks!

I believe the request must refer to a specific player, which would tend to make me think the answer to both questions is no. However, if one of your players is holding an illegal stick on the sideline, no protestations of "but that's my coach's stick!" are going to work.

It's important, I think, that the request refer to a player and not a stick, since otherwise I could throw an illegal stick into your bench area and then asked to have it checked anytime I needed a 3:00 man-up. :D

Ive also never seen a stick itself get a penalty, just the person using it.

In principle, you could make it so any illegal stick found on the bench was a 1:00 or 3:00 NR penalty on the in-home, but that's not what we have right now.
