Although some of the scores were off, I only missed two games (although I am not sure about one of them: SCAD vs Citadel?) And both of those games. I'd say I didn't do to bad. Although many of my scores were way off - especially the Auburn South Florida game.

I guess that makes me 18 and 2 with the verdict on the 21st game still to come. Let's get some more slap happy people to make some predictions next week. That way we can stop having boring conversations about how good Elon is or isn't. I've heard more about them and Liberty than FSU, UF, or GT.

hats off to Liberty. We hope you play well the rest of the season so that we'll see you in Atlanta.

Just as a reminder, UNC lost to Santa Clara in their first game of the season and are currently ranked #4 in the nation... so, it's not unheard of for a great team to drop their first game.

We're not going to hide behind excuses though... injuries and preparation are a part of the game. That's why they're not played on paper. Elon's always had the problem of playing to the competition, and this time it bit us in the *behind*.... no worries though, we'll see y'all in Hotlanta

I believe it, we have a great deal of respect for you guys at Elon. If we can get to full health in the next 3 weeks we will be in great shape. For now for us it is just one game at a time and Atlanta is not even a thought. Next we have to get by Scad and we don't take them lightly a bit. They gave Davidson a handful so I know they have a quality Team. It will be a very tough game for us against Scad.

ECU played a great game. The game could have gone either way as there were numerous lead changes throughout the game. They are definitely solid on both defensive and offensive ends. And they are most deserving of playing in the A division. Whoever is on their schedule should be prepared to play a very talented ECU team. Good Luck to all in your upcoming games

Vanderbilt was only able to beat Emory 12-4 this weekend, whereas FSU beat Emory about 53-1 a few weeks ago. Any opinions on what this result says about Vanderbilt. Has Emory gotten better since the FSU game, or is FSU just that much better than the rest of the SELC?

SCAD vs. UNCC

Postby Choppy49er on Mon Feb 21, 2005 8:15 pm

SCAD did win in 2OT 8-7. It was a good game, everyone played hard n no one walked away too dissapointed. It was a pretty slow paced game with SCAD beating The Citadel the day before and Charlotte with a 4 and a half hour bus ride @ 5am. It seems like we always saw #8, n #4 either with the ball or coming around up top to be invlolved in the play.

We were worried when we didn't have our main faceoff man. But we played with no regrets. Our goalie was stout in overtime with some big saves until the one that just got through in OT. And Savanna getting the tying goal with :16 seconds to play in Regulation. We have much respect for SCAD, and wish their program luck.

UNCC 2-2-2-1|0-0 7
SCad 1-2-1-3|0-1 8

Anyone know anything about Winthrop this year?

By that logic, what do you make of the fact that Vandy beat Tenn by one ( I think) and GA Tech beat Tenn by one. FSU beat Ga Tech by two scoring on an empty net with :04 in the game when the goalie went to double.

It's difficult to compare scores, especially this early in the season. Last year in the SELC there was absolutely no continuity of scores between common opponents.

The games this weekend in Atlanta showed that FSU's defense is better, but still has room for improvement. The offense, while very potent, is also subject to being held to around 10 goals ( which is as good as most teams from #8-#25 should be able to do.

We still have yet to see VA Tech yet, as they are too far north to be going this early.

Florida played FSU to a one goal game in the fall, so don't count anybody out.

Don't be so hasty to give the SELC championship to the 'Noles after three weeks. Although they should be at this point, the prohibited favorite.

After watching FSU at the ACC shootout this weekend, they are definitely a solid team, offensively and defensively. The one area that they really struggle in is their discipline. I couldn't believe the number of penalties they recieved. A lot of their penalties were blatant and easy calls for any official. Hopefully they get that under wraps before going out west; otherwise, it could be a long week for the noles.

There is a big difference in driving by car from Atlanta to Charlotte going 80 and taking a bus at 60 or 65. Sorry you guys had such a long trip, but at least you came away with the "W".

ACC Shootout

Postby zizuhyte on Tue Feb 22, 2005 7:20 pm

Just want to take the time to thank Georgia Tech for having us in Atlanta, to thank Florida State, and Wake Forest for coming down to play lacrosse, and to say that the games were excellent.

# 3 goalie for NC State, Corey Allen was a hero for us this weekend, not to mention our outstanding defense and offense for keeping us in the games. It's a shame we fell short but we played to the best of our ability against tech and fsu.

I've always been a fan of NCSU...When I was in the Army at Ft Bragg, NC our team was pretty serious for a club team in the middle of nowhere. We could always count on the Wolfpack to give us a great game...and unlike other college teams, they would reciprocate home and home. OK, Raleigh is only about an hour from Ft Bragg, but it was still appreciated.

You guys have gutted out some great games in the last few years, as well.

Best of luck this season.

I know that we are a revamped team with some younger talent and an experienced head coach that has the program headed in the right direction finally.

Please note that the game will be played at Sullivan Field, the field listed on the SELC site. Last week's game vs. WCU at the soccer field was a one time deal, thank god.

We are 1-1 with socres in both games beign a little deceptive. Injuries and prior commitments killed us against the Citadel and they spun a 7-5 Winthrop lead into a 22-8 blowout because we ran out of gas in the 2nd half. Our 10-2 win over WCU could have taken place on teh same grounds, they lost a palyer or two duirng the game and didn't have much else to go with. Overall, we aren't the best team in the league by any means but we don't think we are the worst anymore either.

Some of us attended your game vs. Liberty...was good to see that you guys had a thick bench, like 20 players? Seems like two years agao, there was question whether you guys would make it.

We made it to most games, just sometimes with no subs. I hope those days of UNCC lax are over.
