Fall Jamboree

Fall Jamboree

Gonzaga is going to be hosting a Fall-Ball Jamboree from October 13th - 16th next Fall.

This is going to be something I'm going to work on in the next month or so, but it is essentially going to be an event that each USL-MDIA club is welcome to bring 1 team to represent their club. The games would be much shorter than a regular game (probably something like 15 minute running quarters) and the setup would be that each team plays 3 or 4 games for seeding purposes, and is then placed into a tournament bracket depending on their seed. The event would go from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and each team would essentially be guaranteed to have 5 games (3 seeding games, at least 1 tourney game, one pick-up game for teams who lost in first round).

Here's the keys: There will be an entry fee to pay for the costs of refs and stuff, but included would be a certain amount that would go toward a cash payout to the winning team's lacrosse club!! Another key is that its Fall Ball which means that alums, coaches, etc. could play with and for the team! I think this would be awesome because it would mesh together not some of the alums being able to play together again, but also they could help out their clubs and try to win some money for them and it would be a ton of fun as well.

Example: If 10 teams came, I would expect the payout to the winning team to be something around $1000!! However, this would mean that the entry fee per team would be about $300. Keep in mind though, its Fall ball so each team could easily tell their players- if you want to play in the Jamboree, you need to pay something like $20 is all and that would easily cover the teams entry fee. Also, I'm thinking to have a "loosers bracket" after the seeding so that bracket winner could also get a payout (of course it wouldn't be as much as the overall winner).

I'm not set in the exact format yet, but if you have some interest in getting your team involved in something like this, let me know and if I get some good interest, I'll put something official together so everyone would know exactly what the fee would be and the payout etc.
