We have had 4 guys get stitches this year. 3 of them are in the exact same spot on the cheek where the CPX comes closest to the face. The other was right between the eyebrows. It sure is a cool looking helmet.

What happens when all our teams are to have matching helmets, say CPXs, and one player needs a Riddell because of concusions? Does the whole team need to switch over? Or is their a waiver that the player can receive to allow the non-uniform helmet?
Helmets do not have to be the same brand. They just have to be the same dominant color.

GP - What has been BYU's experience with the Riddells?
Do the players like them ? Or is it a case of "it's free" so we tolerate them?

I know that Coach Lamb loves them. The players at first didn't like them but now most of them are really happy with them. I think as they have been molded to the heads, they are more comfortable. So i would say that overall, everyone is very happy.

after getting uslia team of the week i have an opportunity to put on a ridell helmet. i almost hope that coach lets me use it so i dont add to this ugly scar. after further examination of my helmet i see that the broken piece is the plastic that hold the mask to the helmet on the sides.since this broke the mask could move closer to my face and ultimately the giant metal piece that holds the visor to the mask cut my face( and still has some of my skin in it). also the bar jacked up my nose, hence stitches in two places and an anger at a company that has been nothing but trouble.
all of this is after having to pay to ship my helmet to cascade to fix it last semester. granted they fixed it for free but the $18.50 would be nice to have back.

I just switched to a riddell helmet after needing stitches from my cpro against arkansas.
It's a great helmet and i'm extremely happy with it. The only problem with it is the facemask is about a quarter inch too high which screws with your vision, but that was easily fixed by rotating the plastic piece holding it at the top around to face out. This also gives a little more neck protection.
As far as the fit goes, it's incredible. I'd recommend it the anyone buying a new helmet. And they're not THAT ugly...

After intially going with CPro's, this past season we switched to Riddell's. The main complaint that our guys is that they are heavier than their old CPro. Since this was a common complaint from most of the players who switched, we're going back to CPro's next year. We've had two break of the Riddell's over the year, and our guys with CPro's haven't had any break.
