1. I dont think the overall interest is frankly there across the country for the NBA when compared to NFL or MLB. TV ratings and ticket sales are trending down for the NBA. I can't see the NBA all-star game being a hotter ticket then the MLB All-Star game.

2. Many All-Star games tickets are typically covered by the season ticket holders of said (host) team. Since this game is in Vegas (i.e. no NBA team), there won't be a large amount of the ticket committed to the season ticket holders. Cuban would have problems in Dallas with the Mavericks season ticket holders if he didn't offer them NBA All-Star game tickets if the event went to Big D.

At the risk of being un-PC here, I read a column recently (I believe by Bill Simmons) where it was discussed how the NBA All Star Game is the "Black Superbowl". That phenomenon could help explain its popularity....

When it was here in ATL, it definitely reminded me of freaknik.

You can thank Pete Carroll for those special memories. It seemed like his defensive strategy was the same as Michigan's in the previous Rose Bowl.

RE: How to lose to Texas

#1- Pressure Vince Young (which creates massive running lanes up the field).

#2- Buy in to the idea that Vince Young's arm will beat you (which makes you think you should pressure him more).

#3- Get scared when Texas completes a lot of 6-12 yard passes and send more pressure.

#4- Look mystified as Vince Young runs up the giant open alleys on the field. Who was supposed to be there on the field? Oh right, the guy that you sent in to the backfield.

#5- Refuse to come out of Cover 1 defense. Encourage your defensive players to cover their WR's so hard that they turn their back to the play and let Vince Young gain at least 5-7 yards before you turn around to try and tackle him. Your defensive backs will be confused that a linebacker wasn't making the play already, but oh yes... those players are in the backfield.

#6- Pretend that when the game is on the line and Texas has had success running with Vince Young that maybe they'll finally decide to pass. Maybe against Baylor the play action pass will show up, but not when the National Championship is on the line. Run, run, run. Safe, safe, safe.

Can you tell that this kept me up all night? I was infuriated after the game... I probably fell asleep at 2 a.m. after walking over to our football office and watching some film for an hour. Grrrrrrr!
