Rep. Cynthia McKinney says racial profiling was a factor in her confrontation with Capitol Police.

(CNN) -- No more he-grabbed-she-slapped -- whether U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney should be charged over a confrontation with Capitol Police last week will be decided by a grand jury, perhaps as soon as next week, said federal law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

The "interview" between morning host Solodad O'Brien (CNN) and McKinney had to be the funniest thing I've since since the Mobile leprechuan. Click on "McKinney grilled about confrontation" on the right side of the page linked above to view the video.

I think there has to be some point at which someone from the representative's camp decides to fire both her attorney and her PR person. I can think of no way to reflect more negative light onto an individual accused of a crime than holding an interview like the one on Sonny's link.

I thought the Police Chief's statements about the security were remarkably significant, especially once he started rattling off the numbers of people that the Capitol police go through each day.

I've never heard of this representative before this incident, but I can tell you that my first impressions of her through this interview were not stellar. I think that if I were her, I would not be looking forward to re-election for anything higher than community treasurer.

As far as I know, her only other claim to fame was when she lost her primary race in 2002 and her father blamed it on "the Jews".

I think we have gerrymandering to thank for esteemed representatives like her from both sides of the aisle. It turns the primary race into the de facto election, when only the hardliners from both parties usually vote.

A ridiculous number of House seats go unopposed every year. My representative has been unopposed for at least three elections straight. Then again, I shouldn't be complaining. It only takes 2000 signatures to get on the ballot and if I cared enough about the issue, it wouldn't be hard to get someone on the ballot.
