Based on that opinion, referees should work college lacrosse games for free too. Your opinion is a bit narrow-minded, no?

Field availability

Postby laxobs on Sun Feb 20, 2005 4:33 pm

It is not my opinion that refs should work for free. I do think that if someone in the lax community knows of a specific field that is available, it would be great for them to share that info without charging a fee.

Relax, Billax and I are attempting to put together a list for WCLL coaches to use. Billax's business proposal was for far more than a list. He would not only make a list but make all the contacts for the emergency field, provide insurance, fees, clean up, contracts etc. He was proposing to handle everything wall to wall.
We have discussed the problem and think that wall to wall coverage contract for the WCLL is too expensive. We are attempting to get a list of all bay area turf fields with names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, fees, insurance requirements etc. This information would be diseminated to all bay area WCLL coaches for use in an emergency.
If you have any such information please PM it to me. Thanks
It might be a good idea for So Cal volunteers to compile a similar list for their area..

UCSB 13- UCSD 5. Rainy, sloppy, penalty filled game. Nick Dean was shut off. UCSD played longsticks on middies Patton and Isaksen leaving Lewis Kubitz free to score 3plus goals for UCSB.
One UCSD goal was scored when the official ruled that the ball crossed the goal before the player dove into the crease? Huh? Good call 3 or 4 years ago.

Report from WCLL.com:
On the first game ever on UCSB's new turf field, the Gauchos defeated UCSD 13-5. The Tritons came out with a very deliberate gameplan and a lot of emotion and led 4-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. UCSB was able to outscore the Tritons 2-0 in the 2nd to take a 5-4 lead into the half. After trading goals in the 3rd quarter, the Gauchos held a 7-5 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play. The final quarter was all UCSB as they tallied 6 goals and held UCSD scoreless to seal the win. UCSB continuously shot themselves in the foot with penalties, racking up a total of 11 in the game. The Gaucho defense played outstanding in the second half, holding UCSD scoreless in the final 23 minutes of the game. A lot of credit goes out to UCSD, as the final score does not accurately reflect how close this game really was.

Arizona battles back in the second half and wins by the score of 10-8. All the credit to Utah, what a great coaching job by them. Arizona Plays BYU on wednesday @7pm. In Tucson.

And you are helping with the west bay starting on 4/15!

Preliminary list of artificial turf fields. Please let me know of additions or errors we've made. and try to PM me with the names, addresses, email and phone # for the field administrators. We could probably weed the fields down by including only fields where lacrosse is played. Any info on that is also appreciated. Bold indicates used for lacrosse.

Utah has a solid program in the making, Coach Goodhand has done well, I suspect it will only improve.
