Sorry there OAKS, but despite their big loss to UCSB, there is no way that Colorado is the 16th best team in the country, behind . . . . .GA Tech & VA Tech, for instance. I'd be willing to bet that they will not be ranked in the next poll as low as you have them. Care to take me up on that?

I know that no one has been posting the 20 - 25 range but what about Illinois? They only lost to Oakland by 1. I know everyone concentrates on top 15 but just wanting a few opinions.

Yeah they have the potential to be better than the 16th team in the nation and I'm sure pollsters will probably have them in the top 10. If they beat Utah and Oakland next weekend, I'll move them up there as well. This is the age old debate of how good a team is (and is supposed to be) to be vs 'what have you done for me lately' and their actual performance.

I find it really hard to rank teams that have not one any ranked games, or maybe one against a 20-25 team ahead of teams with multiple ranked wins, but maybe a couple bad loses. Colorado being ranked out of the top 10 would be ridiculous, just to name a few things that are very odd in your rankings, Oaks.
My poll to come soon. Not going to be perfect, but it will be very well researched. Or, maybe I'll put Virginia Tech and Lindenwood as maybe #3 and 4. For some reason, it seems like some people out there would agree with something close to that?

Well, speaking of "what have you done for me lately", could you explain what on GA Tech's resume puts them in front of Colorado?
Also explain why VA Tech doesn't get knocked down for their 10 goal loss to UCSD but Colorado gets knocked down about 10 spots for a 8 goal loss to the defending champs.

Actually now that I have ASU up a little higher, Colorado would be a few spots higher. It doesn't actually matter since I don't vote. You can put your own rankings out there if you don't like mine.
As for VT, they might need to be a few spots down since they haven't beaten anyone ranked yet, but they did play FSU to 1 goal and SSU to 3 goals.

lost to Michigan State today 17-14. Have played close to the top 25 teams. Would not be surprised they cracked the poll.

This may sound like excuses but it really needs to be said. In their game with Va Tech game, Sonoma was missing AA goalie Warren Pringle. They also had limited services of Brian Johnson their AA middie who was just returning from a broken hand. I think the loss of those players had a profound effect on the final score.OAKS wrote:As for VT, they might need to be a few spots down since they haven't beaten anyone ranked yet, but they did play FSU to 1 goal and SSU to 3 goals.

I don't think it needs to be said actually. So what that your goalie was out. So what that a middie was out. I bet V-Tech was missing a guy or two, but no one from v-tech comes on here to let us know that. I don't think you really want to start putting asterisks next to games that you feel were not well represented by the starters. Think of all the games that have been played this year, do you think that this is the only game that was affected by a starter not playing. If not, start making the list.

Missing an All American goalie doesn't matter? Are you kidding me?
It matters. And it matters alot.
I'm not a Sonoma supporter. I just think that a 14-11 loss by VaTech to SSU is listed as a major accomplishment for VaTech. And I think the loss of Pringle was important in the outcome. The back up goalie obviously did an adequate job; SSU won the game. But the goal differential is what VaTech supporters point to as a positive for their team and I think that is misleading.
If you disagree with me and think the loss of an all american goalie is insignificant to goal differential then feel free to ignore this information.

Sure it was important, but it shouldn't even be brought up in whether the V-Tech game should help or hurt the Hokies in tne polls. If we wanted to start talking about AA players that were hurt and didn't play in a game so that team should have won by more, then fine let the banter begin. Just dont think that this is the only game where someone didn't play, and it affected the outcome. It happens in almost every game. Like I said, I wonder if VT had anyone missing.

It's a Top 25 poll!
Just remember Dan & TheJoker that it's a Top 25 poll (not a Top 20 or Top 15 poll). You have to complete the bottom part of the ballot too!

Completely agree with grinderpete here. I don't think anyone makes is to nationals without the loss of a starter or two, and making comments as far as that led to a loss is ridiculous as far as the polls go. There are several teams that are missing key players due to injuries and not posting up that they would of won or would have been closer if...
Come on

How do people think the ASU win over UCSD will effect the rankings of both teams. How far will ASU move up? How far will UCSD drop?
