An interesting question

Granted, I never watched this movie, Predator (1987 sci-fi thriller), but I got this question from my flip a day calendar table top:

"How many cast members of the 1987 sci-fi thriller Predator have run for governor? Bonus: How many were winners?"

Bet most of you can answer that easily.

I will say 2, Jesse Ventura and Arnold. And they both won. But if Carl Weathers ever became governor, I'd move to that state. Governor Apollo Creed would be great, until Ivan Drago showed up.

Ventura and Arnold were also in Running Man together, which is the single greatest movie for Arnold's post-kill puns. "Was Sub-Zero, now....Plain Zero!"

I don't know about that. In Predator after he launchs a 6 foot wooden spear through someones chest and onto a tree, he so calmly advises that the fellow to "Stick around".
Is this really the kind of sportsmanship that we should be offering our youngsters? I mean, the guy has a spear i his chest. Thats embarrassing enough I think.

Yes, but the Running Man is the best source for the sheer number of terrible, yet hilarious puns. For example:

after strangling Sub-Zero with barbed wire, he says: "What a pain in the neck"

after cutting Buzzsaw in half: "He had to split"

I'm sure there's others after he killed Fireball and Dynamo, but I just can't remember them.

pstirling got the two guys correct:

Jesse Ventura (Governor of Minnesota)

Arnold Schwarznegger (Governor of California)

Sonny Landham (who played Billy in Predators) withdrew from the 2002 race for governor of Kentucky.

In case anybody cares...where I work, we sometimes use thermal imaging cameras to see problematic areas in our processing (blockages, hot spots/cold spots, etc.) It is EXACTLY like what the predator sees and just like what is shown to the viewer in the movie. For $20,000, it's a pretty slick camera. I offered to cover myself in mud to see if the camera would still be able to pick up my thermal reading, but I didn't get the go ahead. :(

That's too bad, if i lived in Kentucky and had the ability to vote in '02, i wouldve voted for him. Billy was the ultimate badass, anyone who can cut themselves with a crazy knife like that has to be a good politician...

You can go to http://www.imdb.com, type in Sonny Landham, click on "Photo Gallery" and find some clips of that movie and Sonny there.

Adding one more thing:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093773/trivia

Keep scrolling until you will find it interesting that an insurance company requested that the movie folks hire bodyguards not only to protect Sonny, but to keep him from hurting others. Something about him beng prone to hurting others such as in bar fights, etc. In other words, to protect others from Sonny Landham.
