Lax_Stats wrote:(1)The women were escorts which is just a fancy way of saying they are prostitutes. This already greatly diminishes their credibility since they are admitted criminals engaging in sexual acts for money.

However, just because they're prostitutes doesn't mean they're lying, either.

Perhaps the players should have known better than to hire prostitutes to come to their house. Can you really be surprised when that doesn't turn out well (even if the allegations are false)? Did they not hear about the Minnesota Vikings "Love Boat" incident?

One thing I find interesting is that everyone submitted to the DNA test and no one has come forward. Either they left DNA on/in these women and are monumentally stupid (if it's there and it came from the players, the DNA tests will prove it, so if you know your DNA is there you're better off coming forward now than waiting) or the DNA isn't there.

The latest news...

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke University's highly ranked lacrosse team will not play again this season until school administrators learn more about allegations that several team members raped an exotic dancer at an off-campus party, the school said Tuesday.

President Richard Brodhead decided to suspend the team from play "until there is a clearer resolution of the legal situation involving team members," the university said.

Brodhead said team captains notified Athletic Director Joe Alleva on Tuesday that players wanted to stay off the field until the DNA results came back from a crime lab. In a statement, the captains predicted the DNA testing would clear the players of wrongdoing.

Cover up

Postby semilaxed on Wed Mar 29, 2006 12:04 pm

I just want to know why people are already screaming cover up? The day after it happened the whole team was in the police station giving DNA samples. Im just confused at how the DA is pretty much saying "slam dunk" yet the team seems confident in the innocents. I'm also from the area and i know that there are enough hippies up there to protest anything.

Now, what happens if the DNA comes back and it's no one on the teams. Im fairly sure that there wasn't a Lax exclusive party. I also know that the Duke atheletes of all different sports tend party together. What if its a member of another team? But I also think that if it was one of their friends or whatever they need to come forward.

This is a messageboard and we can pretty much voice our opinion with in reason. Im just throwing stuff out there.

The party was March 13. The first I heard about DNA samples was yesterday; that doesn't mean it didn't happen the day after, but it sounds like well over a week probably passed.

Unlike some people, I've yet to convict anyone in my mind. It is my sincere hope that justice prevails. I hope that if the players are innocent, they are found as such. I also hope that if the players are guilty they are convicted. This is the last thing I'm saying on the subject.

How bad is this for lacrosse? or is it? Is bad press better than no press? what if they finish the season and get to nationals? (unlikly) But it brings lacrosse more national exposure?

What we have here is a convergence of bad judgements. In the long run no one will come out unscathed.

Dude, look what they took from the residence

Postby BucLax13 on Wed Mar 29, 2006 2:38 pm

Wow, they found the five finger nails that she was missing. On pape five of the smoking gun it shows they took a ton of stuff from their residence. Something must have happened!

Is Dan Flannery on the Lacrosse Team? It shows that he was the one in control of the residence when they searched it?

Let's be clear (and fair)... At this moment, none of the players have been charged with a crime at the moment by local authorities.

I understand that they have not been charged and it is too early to tell what has happened in this situation. It is weird, to me at least, that they found five fingernails at the residence.

According to the victim's statement, the accused names are Adam, Bret, and Matt. Only one Matt on the roster, but no Adam's or Bret's. Either the names are wrong or players were not involved???

This gets more interesting everyday. Either these guys that have been accused are total idiots, don't live at this house, or didn't commit the alleged crime. If you did commit this crime, why would you not clean up the place with bleach thus getting rid of any possible DNA evidence? Why would you not look for signs that the females had ever been there and get rid of them, such as 5 red fingernails? Why would you not wash any rugs, towels or etc? Why would you keep a tube of KY jelly around? Why would they leave a make-up bag with the dancer's ID in it just laying around? Why would you keep cell phones or computers in the house with potentially incriminating pictures or other evidence on them? Why would you not scrub down the bathroom to remove all evidence that the dancer had been in this room where the alleged assault took place? Why would a dancer leave $400 in $20 bills in a house she was planning on leaving and not returning to? The dancer obviously wasn't so scared if she felt it was safe enough to reenter the house to obtain her money or other items left. When is the last time anyone heard of a dancer or prostitute putting their money down and allowing it out of their control?? That just doesn't happen. Interesting that the search warrant online or however it was obtained, blurs out the alleged victims name but doesn't blur out the alleged suspects names. Hmmmmm The facts of this situation to be able to piece everything together sure will be interesting to look at once they have all been revealed in court; that is if the police do their jobs correctly.

Not that this necessarily has anything to do with the current situation, but it sounds like a lot of the Duke lax players aren't angels...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2387151

About a third of the members of the Duke men's lacrosse team -- embroiled in a rape investigation that caused the school to suspend the team from playing -- have been previously charged with misdemeanors stemming from drunken and disruptive behavior in the past three years, according to court documents quoted in Tuesday's editions of the Raleigh News and Observer.

Fifteen of the 47 members of the team have been charged with offenses ranging from underage alcohol possession, violating open container laws, loud noise and public urination, according to the News and Observer.
