Southern Virginia lost to Central Conneticut 5-6 in overtime. It was a pretty good game considering the 35 minute delay between the 3rd and 4th quarters as we waited for a player to be taken to the hospital with a spinal injury. Conneticut played well in coming back to tie it up with less then 1 minute to go in regulation.

My thoughts

From where I was sitting, it looked like FSU came out flat. They were down 1-2 at the end of 1. Despite being man down what seemed to be the entire 2nd quarter, they rallied to a I think a 5-2 half-time lead.
The rest of the game FSU had a problem finding any rhythm. It didn't help that one of the refs kept sending them to the box for weak penalties. I wasn't the only one on the sidelines who noticed his "one way" calling. I sat with two Ga Tech parents and they admitted the guy was so bad it looked like he'd never called a game before. Fortunately the other two guys did a great job.
In any case, it was just a great game to watch. Both teams had their ups and downs. Both goalies and defenses played extremely well, especially FSU's man down defense. #3 was all over the place, and looking back on it, probably saved the game 2-3 times for FSU.

FSU-GT
Solid game by both teams. FSU has picked up their defense from last year. It was a solid "D" effort on both sides with Mike Yeager (GT) and Jeff Goren (FSU) coming up with some great one on one saves.
We closed to 8-7 with 2 minutes to go and FSU did a nice job killing the clock until they dumped in a emtpy netter with 6 seconds on the clock to win by 2.
Tech did a nice job slowing the run n gun and FSU did a nice job disrupting the GT settled offense.
A great battle by both teams IMO.

Also, it was reported to me that NC State beat Wake today 12 - 9 in the 2nd game at the ACC Shootout in Atlanta. Game was tied in the 4th and the Pack pulled away late for the 3 goal victory.
Final two games tomorrow morning:
GT vs. Wake Forest
FSU vs. NC State

The player for SVU will be ok. He took a hit to the middle of the back and it whipped his head back. When the trainer got to him he was complaining of a tingling sensation in his hands and feet. So, in came he paramedics (after going to the wrong school), to take him to the emergency room. The CT scan came back with no injury to the back or neck. Though he will have to wear a soft neck brace for the rest of this week. The tingling sensation went away after an hour or so. He has a follow up visit in a week. He may be able to play later in the season.

That's good to hear. This is one of the biggest possible areas for too few / inexperienced officials. Not to say that this was caused by officiating, but good officials can really make a difference in not allowing things to get out of hand.
I again state that every team should be required to recruit one ref per year.
Go 'Noles!...sorry to miss that game...sounds like it was a good one.

App State won.
Great victory for Liberty, we also have had troubles with Elon in the past.
