Andy:
That's a great list - Beats my handwritten notes on these games hands down.
Thanks

I called the win an upset if it was by a lower ranked team. I did not differentiate on the red Lost To side, only on the green Beat/Upset side.Sonny wrote:Thanks Andy for assembling all that info in one place. How are you defining a "loss" versus an "upset."
Glad people are finding it helpful.

well it looks like there is a ton of repetitive games in that list but the two standouts must be the UNC game which would theoretically at least put them in the top 10 and the two Davidson losses which could bump them out of the top 25 altogether. losing to a #43 team can really hurt your image in the face of pollsters. other than that i think most of the other games aren't too unpredictable like a 14 team losing to a 17 team and so on. as for the uvsc game, it looks like they showed who deserves the fourth spot. still montana can bring it and they have numerous games to prove it. i'm just happy how this season is shaping up near the end.

The SELC is one of the hardest to read. . .especially from across the country. I obviously haven't seen any of the teams play, but it seems from following the scores that there is a lot of parity, and that there are several teams that could get hot in the final tourney and make a serious run at nationals.
From someone in the SELC, who is the favorite at this point to win the conference? I'd love to get some additional insight on these teams that really seem to beat each other up every week.
Thanks.

Well, that weekend should help figure out the top 5. UVSC on a 12-5 second half to handle Montana solidifies the top 4, and adds a barometer for the rest of the RMLC when they play against UVSC.
Thanks for putting that together Andy, that's much cleaner than my excel sheet for voting.

Those of us in the CCLA feel the SELC's pain. It kinda reminds me of last year's PNCLL.PLULax wrote:The SELC is one of the hardest to read. . .especially from across the country. Last year's runner-up Indiana U of PA loses to the new Carnegie Mellon team.
Then the new Carnegie Mellon team loses to the new Dayton team.
To bring it into national perspective, Indiana U of PA did beat Calvin last year who took #4/5 Utah Valley State to overtime at nationals.
Then you add Grove City (others) and the CCLA is not a conference that is easy to read and, after seeing the Top 3 play in SoCal, I'd argue should not be overlooked.
Things might get a bit clearer after this weekend, but as always, the play-offs is what it will really come down to.

Andy, #6 St. Thomas Beat #9 Calvin. I think that is a pretty good indicator, or don't you count your losses

I believe he was looking at the games played since the last poll was released. Notice he doesn't have any earlier losses listed.

Obviously the pollsters already took Calvin's loss to the "undefeated" St. Thomas team into account.Moose wrote:Andy, #6 St. Thomas Beat #9 Calvin. I think that is a pretty good indicator, or don't you count your losses

now that we are late in the season how do the polls effect the potential national tourney? one question i have is if a top team loses to another top team in their conference (ie usd/claremont and st. johns/st. thomas where neither team is sure of dominating by any means) does their at-large bid bump them to the final ten through twelve spots or would they sit higher than a team that wins their conference yet is very low on the polls (ie southwestern or any team from pcll)? also, what is the deal with the pcll, selc, and ccla; how are things going in those conferences? does anyone know?

Good question. Will the teams participating be given the slots based on their rank in the polls, or will they take the last three slots?
It looks like there could be potentially six teams that this affects if you include any of the #2 teams in the RMLC, CCLA or GRLC. One of those, IMHO, will probably take the third at-large bid.

I believe it will work just like it does for Division A. Seedings will be based on the final regular season Top 25 poll. And AQ's from lower ranked conferences (i.e. lower then #12) will bump higher ranked non-conference champion teams as necessary.
