New teams to the PNCLL & returning teams
Are there any proposed new teams to join the PNCLL in the 2007 season as of yet? Is WSU coming back? What about Montana State? I know Whitworth College had a team many years ago. Any other potential new teams in Eastern Washington or Eastern Oregon?? Or what about Idaho? Or British Columbia for example??

I think Washington State is the most likely team to join the PNCLL A division next year. A former PNCLL powerhouse, it will be great to see the Cougars re-emergence into our conference. I know there has been some interest at Seattle University, but I don't know what has become of their program. Dan Wishengrad might know more about this start-up program.
Another school to keep an eye on is Saint Martin's University - their athletic director contacted me months ago and their President is an East coast guy that is a big fan of lacrosse. I would expect a program to be started there in the very near future. For those of you that are unaware, Saint Martin's is located in Lacey, WA. . .just North of Olympia.
No other programs have contacted the PNCLL and shown interest in joining this conference.

CLub Update
Next September we will petition for re-entry into the PNCLL A Divison. The league has given us strict guidelines that we had to accomplish in order to do this.
We have 3 scheduled games this season against Central, Idaho, and Gonzaga. The league emphasized that our club needed to play in any games we scheduled in order to show our stability. So far we have played 2 of the 3 games. Gonzaga is on April 7th. We were provided no funding this season by the University, so we wern't able to committ to playing games against UW or Western due to travel expenses.
We have around 30 guys on our roster, but we only are able to travel with 24. We are young with many beginners but our guys are continuing to show effort and committment. Some personal work over the summer will prove how good our team will be next season. We are planning on having Tryouts in early september and cut down our varsity squad to 24. We might also look to start a JV Team depending on how many incoming freshman we have.
We have ordered Matching Silver/Maroon CPX's and Superstar II gloves. We have practice uniforms as of now but we are working on a deal with NIKE for our official uniforms next season.
We have recently started a T shirt fundraiser in hopes of raising close to 1000 dollars. Our university matches the amount fundraised or donated.
We are also in the works of getting a fall ball tourney in our Indoor Varisty Athletic practice facility. Hopefully we could mimick UW with their Dempsey Center.
Overall the club is in good standing with the University and we are continuing to build our reputation.
The expectations from the players on our team next year wilth increase tremendously!
Overall... LET US BACK IN!!!!

Great job Jake! I know it sounds kind of hokey also, but a car wash at $5.00 or whatever the person might be willing to donate can generally bring in a few hundred dollars a day. Keep thinking of anything you can do to raise money, and then do it. I would also tell your players, especially the newer ones to literally live with their lacrosse sticks between now and next season. Throw against a wall for an hour a day, practice dodging signs on the street, etc. They will be surprised at how quickly they will build skills if they will simply work on the bare bone basics of lacrosse. Too many teams in my opinion forget about the basics and then you watch a game and they cant even pass, shoot, catch, or even scoop up a ground ball to save their lives. They lose games because they don't have a well enough grasp of the basics of lacrosse. Good luck to you guys and I hope to see you back in the PNCLL next season! Keep us posted on the fall ball tourney as well.

I concur Jake. . .you are doing a great job in returning the WSU Lacrosse program to prominence. Let me add that your program has a proud tradition in this league, and I would work hard to contact WSULax Alumni and try to get their support in the way of advice and money to help rebuild the program.
Keep up the good work and we will look forward to your presence at the fall AGM.
