CMU 9
MSU 10
double OT
CMU came out to win. They played very well. We were down 9-3 late in the third, and scored the last 7 goals, including one with 12 seconds left to send it to OT.
We didn't play our best game for the first 3 quarters, but Central deffinately deserved to be in that game. They played their hearts out.

The score reported of this one raised my eyebrows:
Carnegie Mellon 10
Indiana U of PA 9
Any further explanation?

I saw the Carnegie Mellon vs. IUP game. The explanation is simple: two evenly matched teams.
IUP looked like they were missing their faceoff guy and top midfielder (#6). They came out of the gate really slow, with Carnegie Mellon going up 6-2 by the end of the first quarter. #22 for Carnegie Mellon is the real deal, scoring 5 more goals to give him 16 in two games. #13, a defensman for CMU, kept Preparato in check, and IUP's only real offense came from #26 shooting worm-burners from up top.
I've said it a bunch of times before... this is anyone's league. We play CMU on Wednesday, and we'll find out more then.
Kudos to Carnegie Mellon on a hard fought, well-deserved victory over a team that went undefeated in the regular season last year.

Unfortunately #6 (Bryan Algeo), transferred after the Fall to Penn State. He will be working out with PSUs varsity this year and will be playing varsity ball for them next season.
Congrats to Carnegie Mellon for winning this hard fought game. The rest of the conference needs to look out for these guys.

Az @ Michigan
It was an impressive win, particularly if Michigan's defense follows up with a similar performance tomorrow night against Lindenwood. Arizona had a tough time getting off good shots and Kauffman is quietly becoming an ace in the crease. Also, Michigan's second string played much sharper than they did last week.
Shout out to Arizona attackman #13 who I saw lay it all out, time after time, even after the game was pretty well out of reach.

Carnegie Mellon at Dayton
Score from UD 3/25:
Dayton: 15
Carnegie Mellon: 9
Started off the game with some snow fall but sun poked its head in here and there. Strong play from both teams Dayton did well on groud battle and had some good finishes. Carnegie Mellon fought hard all game and wouldn't be surprised to see them later in the year.

Based on the results so far, I predict that this prediction is in trouble. Lindenwood had trouble getting by BC 9-7. Michigan whomped AZ 19-7 and AZ whomped BC 14-8. Looks like The Loo may have misjudged the strength of Lindenwood.

Miami beat Indiana 12-10 on Friday night. The game started out in the high 30's with a drizzle and ended in a snowstorm that had the players look like they were playing on an ice rink. The game was played on a turf field. Not sure of all the Miami scoring but their good attack duo of Beeken and Essig each had 3 or 4 goals. Their face off man, Brittain, was unbelievable. He must have taken about 90% of the face offs with his long stick. He also plays on man up unit with the pole.

Lindenwood 10, Michigan 14
The full summary will be up on the U of M website soon. Strong game by both teams. Lindenwood seemed very fired up throughout most of the game, getting a little frustrated at the end when they were down 3 or 4 goals for most of the 4th period.
Lindenwood's attack is everything folks have said. J. Combs and company had the Michigan faithful holding their breath every time they had posession until about the 14:15 mark of the 4th period. 4 goals did not really feel insurmountable even when the clock got down to 1:30 left. And early in the game, Michigan's young defense definitely seemed a little rattled, except for Kauffman, who kept his composure. If you get a chance to see the Lions, its definitely worth the trip.
In the second half, Michigan's defense seemed to settle in, aided by some strong posessions by the Michigan attack. Michigan's defense just hasn't dropped off that much. Some drop-off? yes, but its not the kind of thing that teams are going to easily take advantage of.

Just got home from my 45 min. drive from Ann Arbor and what a game. It was back and fourth up to half, it seemed like it was going to be 30 -30 in the end. The second half would be all U of M, they just controlled the ball and kept on shooting.
LU goalie really kept them in the game, had a tuff time clearing, and winning face-offs. LU played very well but could not find the cage, I think # 28 had 3 or 4 for the lions. U of M #16 had about six goals in the game to help U of M with the win.
U of M defenses did not let LU offense get settled, they played them very aggressive and that seem to force them to turnover the ball a few more times then they wanted. U of M offense looked sharp and dead on, they played 5 attackmen at time a few times in the game, and they also inverted throwing the LU defense off.
LU broke out new baby blue jerseys, with Vegas gold trim, it was pretty flashy. People talk about how good is Lindenwood, and since I have seen them play 4 times this year, I can assure some doubters that they are deserving of the top 10.
With that said, people talked about U of M and how they where going to be this year without there returning defense from last year. Well I have to tell you that U of M looks good, real good and way better then last year.
This was exciting game to watch, congrats to JP and U of M, and good luck to Troy and Lindenwood who battles Arizona tomorrow.
