HIT

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Sun Mar 19, 2006 7:23 pm

The HIT is now history for another year. It was fun tourney with not one, not two, but THREE overtime thrillers. Unfortunaltey, none of these close games involved the home team.

Final scores today:

Minnesota-Duluth 8
Cal-Poly 7 (OT)

I just want to take a second and thank the SOU guys for the effort they made for us. In Oregon, high school seniors need to create a project to graduate. A Sheridan High School senior chose hosting a lacrosse game at his high school as his project. The event was a blast, as we played under the lights and treated many first time observers to a heck of a lax game. Also, we charged a dollar for admission, giving 100% of the proceeds to charity. We manged to make over $400 for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. Thanks again guys, it was a great night.

Must be an error. No crazy plays with a pole scoring or anything like that.

Did Cody Hart of Albertson get shut out by Southern Oregon? I find that hard to believe. . .is he hurt, or was there some other reason he didn't play in the game??

That was a stat error, he had 2 goals and 5 assists on Sunday. He did not score as many goals as the Yotes might have liked, but he did create for other players.

Yotes spent just about all their energy on the Western Oregon game. By the time three midis had gone down in the third quarter of the Southern game, they didn't have much left in them it sounds like. I think that's the biggest problem with only playing with about 14 guys. They don't have the numbers to be successful in back to back weekend road games like that, and if a couple of guys get injured you're suddenly in a load-o-trouble.

Looks like the Yotes might not make that play-off run, but they could still very-well play spoiler for a few teams down the road here. It'll be interesting to see if they keep getting good transfers in the future, or if they'll finally start recruiting...ha ha.

Yeah, Drew "Hacksaw" Arneson started out with the SOU team as a defenseman, however due to injuries to two starting shortsticks he has sense moved to attack, which is where all of his points have been scored this year, nonetheless shifting from a pure longpole to attack and picking up 2 goals and 5 assists in a game is quite admirable...Well Done Hacksaw

Thanks to the Ducks for hosting us last week. Coach Kerwin was gracious and attentive to our requests for walk through time and other scheduling concerns.

And a large thanks to Dan W and Matt Cone for hosting the HIT last weekend. It is an exceptional fieldhouse, and the games are run professionally. Dan does an excellent job in making sure that all the teams have to do is just play.

Our team really enjoyed the experience, and I highly recommend it to other teams looking to gain some out of conference exposure.

Good luck the rest of the season to all the HIT teams and the Ducks.
