The thing you need to realize is that Catlaxman is the biggest WCLL and UCSB homer on this board.

I know this and enjoy occasional good natured message board jousting with him.

CATLAX MAN wrote:Yeah, I guess you're right. A game pitting #1 vs. #2 that went into OT for the second year in a row should take a back seat to #5 vs. #9.

So nothing except rating (and WCLL connections  ) can make a game important...

nothing like:

1.) a rematch of one of the biggest semi final upsets in recent history
2.) a grudge match game between one of the historically most successful programs in the MDIA vs a team trying to break into the upper echelons of the MDIA
3.) a game between the percieved "good guys" and a team wearing black as a personification of their "bad boy" image
4.) two teams with a history of playing more varsity competition than other MDIA programs
5.) A team that has been at the pinnacle of MDIA achievement vs a team on it's way to varsity stataus
6.) insert your favorite comparison of Jason Lamb and Bill Harkins here
ARRRRG!!!!!! Everyone enjoys a good Rogering!

Do you think that ESPN or ABC would cover the BYU vs Florida State game in Dallas? At least get BYU or Mormon TV to cover it or a local station in northern Florida? This is got to be a Coast to Coast event. Maybe even the College Sports Channel on satellite. Who knows? Only us crazy Lax Fans would get this excited about Florida State vs BYU in the USL MDIA Division A IA Lacrosse Championships in Dallas. It is all good stuff but you have to be a Lax Fan to appreciate Florida State vs BYU rematch if it happens in Dallas?

I'm pulling for the Cougars if it happens. It is a Mountain West thing. Go Cougars!

SCAD- 3
NC State- 10
Good game, NC State shut down our offense and played real aggressive "D"... we have enjoyed playing the Wolfpack the past two years.

SCAD- 9
Wake Forest- 8

Wake led the whole game until the end. SCAD came back from a 7-4 deficit and at one point was three men down, but Wake failed to capitalize. We really appreciate Wake for hosting us.

USC v. UNCC

Postby NinerCoach on Mon Mar 20, 2006 4:55 pm

USC - 17
UNCC - 8

We played TERRIBLE. We traveled poorly (only 2 lines of middies) and were totally unprepared for the field conditions in Columbia. Practice groundballs in a sandbox if you have an upcoming game there. They told us the field would be undersized due to some circumstances outside their control, but that field was honestly a joke.

Had it been a closer game I might be more incensed over that. They completely shut us down in transition and with the field being a bit smaller than usual, our offense couldn't get the space needed to play our kind of game.

John Metcalfe kept up his streak, with his third straight hat trick (however he did fail to reach 4 goals for the first time this season). Colin Wauchope, a freshmen attackman who'd matched metcalfe goal for goal in our first 2 games had no space in the middle to work with and got completely shut down.

Looking forward to this coming weekend when we kick off our actual division games with a road trip to play Southern Virginia and Liberty. Hopefully this loss was just us shaking off the after effects of Spring Break.

Consider yourself lucky....you only have to play one game there. Also, we "get to" practice on that field...actually half of it. Did I mention we have to split (like splitting atoms) the field with the girls for our 3 hours of practice time per week? That's what happens when a university only has one field for all intramurals and all club sports. In addition, the field is actually on an old landfill, and since whatever crap they put down there decomposes at different rates, it provides the various peaks and valleys on the "field". You guys gotta come back again though for the full treatment....a 100+ car train going by right outside the fence. Refs have stopped the game while it rolles by because the noise (not to mention the horn which is on more than off) over powers any whistle or yelling. It ain't much, but you and UT know it provides for a sizable home field advantage...as long as we don't hurt ourselves on the field beforehand.

Seriously though, thanks for making the trip. Hopefully next year we'll be better able to be good hosts, since USC will have finished revamping our actual game field (which they started in on a week before our first game and neglected to let us know before then) as well as a 3 field complex for practices and intramurals. I've even heard rumors that they'll have actual grass on 'em, or at least paint the dirt green. USC has really turned into big spenders with my tuition money.

The one you guys played on last year was our usual game field, the one they started redoing a week before our first game. Our current field is our practice field which isn't so much sandy, mainly dusty.

They did the same thing with our practice field, except they were trying to fill in holes and the shallow parts. I'm seriously thinking of spending some team money on fertilizer if the situation doesn't improve.
