In any case, as KnoxVegas pointed out by quoting the scorekeeping definitions, not every shot that does not result in a goal is a save. If A1 shoots and defenseman B1 blocks the shot, that is a shot but not a save (since it didn't reach the GK). Furthermore, if the ball misses the goal completely, that can be a shot but, again, not a save.
One thing that's quite interesting is that the rules definition of a shot and the scorekeeping definition of a shot do not agree. For example, A1 kicks a loose ball intentionally at the goal. The ball misses the goal and goes directly out of bounds, with A2 closest when the ball goes OOB. Who gets the ball?
