Yeah... definitely should fix that... I was very worried there for a second.
Good win Ducks.

Upset Tuesday didn't happen
Nice job to both UO and OSU. I thought that the number of games would catch up to them - good to see it did not.
What are OSU chances of receiving an at-large bid? I do see UO winning the automatic bid, but OSU has been more competitive than I initially thought.
I also want to thank my good friend Tiki Monster for calling me at 2am ET to 'give me the business' over Upset Tuesday not happening

I was a little baffled by a 14-3 routing of Oregon. I was like hmmmmmm. Good to know. Anyone who was there have any thoughts about Minnesota-D. We (Utah) play 'em this weekend

Oregon/Duluth score
Duluth put the scores in the wrong boxes thats why the scores were reversed.
Dan called this morning to tell me so I have fixed that up.
I think Las Vegas would have had to adjust the "odds" on the next Duluth game if the score was legitimate. LOL

I don’t think teams are purposely inflating stats, it’s more that they are recording them differently. I think there has to be a league wide consensus on how stats are taken and reported. I do not subscribe to idea that each team should be able to record them their own way. If stats are not taken uniformly by each team, then what good are they?

Who cares about this stat...? The score in the game is all that matters, and keeping score is not a subjective measure. Determining what counts as a "shot" and a "save," on the other hand, is subjective.
There is no need to micromanage stat-keeping; it's not a perfect science, at any level.

No need to micro-manage stat-keeping but there should be consistent standards applied league wide. If it is a subjective thing, it gives more credence to the idea of trying to minimize that by applying consistent guidelines. Most every other sport is able to do it. Obviously people care about it or it would not be measured. I’m sure the goalies are at least somewhat interested in it and last I checked the goalie position is somewhat important. It sometimes isn’t practical, feasible, or even possible for some people to see some players play, so stats are all they can go by.

While Im sure Dan had no intention of insulting our goalie, program, or any of its members. It is a bit of a slap in the face to single out OSU’s stats to illustrate a problem with stat keeping. But like I said I don’t think there was any ill intent. In my opinion the stats take a back seat to the final score. I don’t care if our goalie has the worst save percentage or highest severely inflated stats in the nation, as long as we have a W at the end of a game.
Whether you have the lowest stats or highest on your team, your teammates know what you do on the field and that’s all that matters.

I understand that the stats may play very little importance when compared to the final score- but even though the team game is important, you also have to consider other coaches who are trying to select players for both league and national honors. It's not reasonable to suggest that each voter will see every player play, and though I would guess the primary selection criterion would be observed play, the stats are a close second.
As an example- (mostly just because this nail has been hit before) Justin Combs. I have never seen him play. I HAVE looked at his stats, and can infer from them that he's quite good. Clearly I'll never know for sure how good he is until I either see him play, or see the results of him playing against someone I've seen play- without first hand knowledge, all I can rely on are stats.
They're important- that's why we keep them. Unfortunately in many cases they fall under subjective influence.

There is only one way OSU earns an at-large bid at this point, and it requires them beating Oregon in the Civil War. . .Wins over Chico State and Chapman would certainly help, but a win over a top-8 team like Oregon would really get the voters attention.

Shot "on cage" (or goalie grabs it) = SHOT
It either gets saved (SAVE) or it's a goal (NOT A SAVE)
It really is that simple...no joke. Nonetheless, it's still a subjective measure.
I still stand by what I said yesterday: no player (goalie or field player) cares more about personal stats than a win. I don't buy the "we need to know for all-league voting" argument. You can judge a good player by his presence on the field.
