Hopefully someone will be able to provide updates of the Gauchos and the Tritons clash at the First Four @ USD.

I believe WaterBoy is planning on being there. Unfortunately I can't serve as the transcriptionist tomorrow. Maybe someone else would be willing to serve in that capacity?

Yup. I can report to CATLAX, that is if I'm going to be the senior "correspondent" there. I would guess there would be some other reporters there.

Either way, I'm planning on going.

According to the schedule, this game is scheduled for 3:00 PST, not 5:00 as listed on the topic header.

It is pouring here in San Diego. This leaves me with quite a dilemma, since I neither own an umbrella or any water proof jackets.

After a gut check, I realize that what I can't decide isn't whether to go or not, but whether to buy an umbrella on the way or stand two hours in the pouring rain....

I love this game.

I suggest a rain poncho. Much better protection.

Apparently the skies have cleared and the game is on. However, the start has been delayed to about 3:30 PST due to previous games running long. Stay tuned. Besides we all need a break after that barn burner in Rohnert Park.

UCSD gets caught with their pants down on a sideline clear that failed and UCSB's Dustin Benesch picked up a loose ball on his own side of the field almost inside the box and flung it all the way down the field into the open net to tie the score at 2-2.

Nick Stratton scores for the Gauchos assisted by freshman Brendan Sindell to increase the lead to 4-2 UCSB with 1:00 left in the 2nd quarter.

Appears that there is some defense being played here.

At the half:

UCSB - 4

UCSD - 2

Mostly a defensive struggle with quite a few unforced errors thrown in. One of UCSD's goals came on a 2 man up situation. Damon Conklin-Moragne has had a couple of eye opening checks in the first half with one of them a wicked slap check resulting in the offensive players's stick getting launched about 15 feet in the air.

UCSB is playing without leading scorer Luke Shaw who is out with tonsilitis.

UCSB's George Granelli finds the net assisted by someone (?) to increase the Gaucho lead to 5-2 with 5:50 to go in the 3rd quarter.

A lot of transitional play in the 3rd quarter. Sloppy in general.
