Its not really heckling, but I think maybe the funniest thing I have heard in a game came recently when PLU played Irvine.

A new Irvine player is on the field as they are clearing the ball and makes an illegal pick, knocking one of our players on his butt.

The whistle blows, and everything goes silent. No fans cheering. No players talking. Just the Irvine coach screaming, "YOU CAN"T THROW A DOWN FIELD BLOCK IN LACROSSE!"

Poor middie. I felt bad for him.

Im not totally for sure regarding to many teams and heckling...some old skool noma fans were pretty bad back in my day, and we were playing them at an away game....but nothing takes this Mercyhurst taunt...

We had a long hair lsm on the bench, and he is sucking air bad from numerous runs on the defensive end....finally, the student section in the stands (directly behind our bench, less than 10 feet) started yelling, "Hey (name witheld for his own protection) why dont you go get a hair cut, and make some gronola you "expetive" hippie!"

I just love that one!!!

Gotta love Auburn games though. The fans are really funny. I remember a "disagreement" between an attackman at Auburn (that will remain nameless) and a GT d-pole. While this "disagreement" was going on a fan called the police, probably because they had never seen something like this. The police actually came out onto the field and threatened to use MACE to break the "disagreement" up. It was pretty hysterical. I think Oaks and Ken can attest to this story.

Auburn police threatening to take us to jail for a scuffle on the field... priceless. Actually I think the guy on our team who was part of the initial stuff crawled out underneath and didn't get a penalty. The guy pulling people apart did get one though since he usually had about 4 slashes a game and the refs remembered him.

Benson can attest to the fact that the LH basketball fans are out of control.

I was officiating a HS game and I heard one of th best comments ever from a player from Minnetonka HS while they were playing a Holy Angels team that was headed to the playoffs. Tonka was having a bad year. I am not sure what their record was, but it was bad. The Tonka defender looks over to an HA attackman and says, "You guys have only lost 3 games." The HA player responds with a simple yes. The response from the Tonka player was classic "Well make it 4 now." The HA player just looked down and laughed. We did not call a penalty.

LH did have some rowdy basketball fans. Always enjoyed when Plano played at LH.

My first ever game filling in for goalie found me being heckled by a couple Illinois fans drinking some beers. They told me I sucked after letting in the n-th goal. So I turned around and told them I agreed and asked if they wanted to come out and play any, they declined and didn't say much after that.

The song is Um Ya Ya. It is consistently ranked as one of the top college fight songs. It is the only fight song written as a waltz. All the other schools in MN are jealous of the song and the school spirit that comes with it. I will admit that if you do not attend St. Olaf or have a strong appreciation for music then you would probably hate Um Ya Ya.

Catholic schools are always a good target. Any penalty on a player from a Catholic school can easily trigger a priest comment.

The best comments from the sidelines come from parents who have no clue about lacrosse rules.

NCSU @ Wake this season, there were about 10-15 trashed students standing on the track that circled the field. They got REALLY close to the field and were yelling things that can't be mentioned here. Eventually, the ref penalized the Wake bench for their "Graphic Language," and told them to sit down.

They weren't done though. Now in the stands, they decided to make some signs, particularly about the goaltender, Corey. One of the signs said "Corey Allen loves his mother," and they were chanting something similar that I cannot repeat here. I happened to be sitting with Corey's parents, and needless to say they did not find this too humorous. His father went down to the gentlemen, took the sign, and made one student apologize to Corey's mother. It was all in good fun though, the student and the father ended up talking a while about rugby (which the student plays and the father used to play). The whole thing was pretty funny.

I remember the USCB fans trying to figure out what city FSU was in.

FSU criminals is so standard that we don't really find it insulting anymore.

While playing in the MILT in West Virginia, Kentucky heckled us big time. And the best one was when ever our slightly overweight attackmen would run backwards, their whole team would go BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP.

playing attack last year against Miami of OH, my D man made a cross field pass and i busted out a pretty loud "NOONAN" loud enough to hear on our game tape across the field and the D man proceeded to drop the pass out of bounds and the goalie was like "did i just hear a noonan" and then the other D made sure to mention to my linemate that it was defiantely the "noonan" that caused the drop.....pretty funny at the time, gotta love Caddyshack
