Report scores, discuss upcoming games WCLL week 6

Thank you for reiterating my thoughts exactly. I'm getting tired of posts lamenting the loss of talented graduates. Of course, the new guys have big shoes to fill, but they seem to take it all in stride and are doing just fine thanks to their ever developing skills and a tremendous coaching staff!

Laxmom-
I think that you underestimate the value of experience at this level of lacrosse.
It is easier to replace the talent lost by CSU, Michigan, Sonoma, UCSB and BYU, than the experience and field savvy. Experience only comes with playing at a high level for a few years, not a few weeks.
It is not a problem to insert one or two talented freshmen in the starting lineup (surrounded by experienced players). It is a far different thing to have 3 returning starters and 6 or 7 inexperienced players trying to learn, regardless of their talent and potential.

As I said, the younger players have "ever developing skills." I'm not questioning the value of field savvy & experience, but am simply stating that to date, teams such as UCSB have fared rather well in some tough matches, despite their youth. That you must agree with.

I'm sorry Laxmom, I look at more than the scoreboard. The execution is just not there, particularly on offense. Very sloppy play all across the league including UCSB.

Seems like Bluevelvet was looking into the future tonight and posted this before the BYU/AZ game...

I agree- I also think he hit the nail on the head- it's no question of talent- if it was all about talent there would be no need for coaches- it's the field savvy and experience, including knowledge and familiarity with plays and so forth that you lose with graduation.

Wow, Chapman has fallen apart! I saw ASU last week and they did not look that good struggling to a close victory over Santa Clara. Somewhat of a surprise.

ASU 12 Chapman 11 Final

I guess Chapman was up 7-2 at the end of 1 but fell apart. Not sure what the problem is. I too thought that Chapman would get back on track this week.

Wow. I'm surprised. I thought that Chapman's talent would carry them by teams like ASU. I thought they would have trouble with the tougher teams due to their inexperience.

Speaking of Chapman, have not heard from Chuck Norris recently. Maybe he got shot in the face by Dick Cheney.

I think he's in the hospital for hip replacement as a result of all those round house kicks he's been doing lately.
