Kansas Players Suspended.

Kansas Players Suspended.

Postby Ehethcoat on Sat Mar 04, 2006 3:14 pm

Due to inappropriate behavior on the part of several players and coaching staff, 3 players have been suspended effective immediately for our 2 games against Texas and A&M. Additionally, 3 other players have been suspended for 1 game against St. Cloud St. Univ. next week at home. Part of the coaching staff has also been suspended for those 3 games.

I hope that each Head Coach throughout the league is never forced to come to this type of decision, however, in this case it was necessary for the betterment of the team.

KU players suspended

Postby davecopeland on Sat Mar 04, 2006 5:23 pm

Eric,

I'm most impressed (but not at surprised) by your posting. I have no idea what initiated this action on your part, or have any desire to know. Suffice it to say, having coached lacrosse off and on for 34 years, having to suspend players and/or coaches had to be an extremely difficult decision on your part. I hope that the individuals involved learn and grow from this experience. Believe me, from personal experience, as painful as it is now for them to go through this, if they learn something positive from it, it MUCH less painful and the consequences MUCH less severe than if it occurs later in life.

I unfortunately don't know you that well, other than when Ryan played for you (and he always spoke highly of you), but as my Dad always says, "What you DO speaks so loudly I can hardly hear what you say." This action speaks volumes to me about your character and class, and hopefully the team recognizes this.

Best regards, and good luck for the KU team for the rest of the season.

Thanks Dave.

It was a tough decision and the team regrettably lost in a close game today due to this decision. Like you said, they have learned from their mistakes and I have been garuanteed it won't ever happen again.

UT's head coach also congratulated me for my decision, as he himself has faced this before.

Hopefully, other teams that face similar situations will react in a positive way that we did here. The team has learned, and we will move on and continue with play to get to the championships once again.

We'll see you in STL in a few weeks.

Eric,

What's the date, time, and location of your games in STL this weekend?

Thanks,

The gametime for Friday's game against WashU is at 8 PM at CBC.

The gametime for Saturday's game against Purdue is at 7 PM at CBC.

Apparently CBC has a game each day before ours, and on Saturday the US Olympic Field Hockey Team has the field rented pushing our game time back just a hair.

See you over there.
