Looks like another big week for the WCLL with five huge games.
Arizona Vs. BYU
Sonoma Vs. UCSD
Chico State Vs. Cal Poly
Michigan Vs. Santa Barbara
Arizona Vs. Utah

Here are my predictions :
Arizona by 1
UCSD by 3
Chico by 2
Santa Barbara by 3
Arizona by 4

The Sonoma-UCSD game is quite interesting. I for one am hoping John Hughes can get a victory against the program that he built. :P

I would be VERY surprised if Sonoma loses to UCSD...in fact I will go as far as saying that the game is going to be decently lopsided in 'Noma's favor...Sonoma by 5 or 6.

I would also be very surprised if Chico beats Poly. I'll take Poly by 4-5.

Sonoma lost a lot of firepower from last year (Wiley,Cummings) and I don't think they have replaced it. This is also Sonomas first big game of the year and UCSD is so well coached that they wil be ready for Noma. UCSD also has the best player in the country in Nick Dean. As for Chico Vs. Poly this game is always close and Chico has a two game win streak in the series.

I don't think that Cummings played for Sonoma last year. They did lose Wiley, Esposito & Hamann to graduation, however. That is on top of losing Johnson to a broken hand and Cannis to eligibility issues this year.

You would think that Poly should be able to handle Chico with no problem, if you compare both teams results against common opponent, Chapman. Also, Chico struggled mightily against Stanford last week. Look for Poly to win going away.

The game between Poly and Chico will be great because of the history..the winner gets to keep the BOOT!..a great WCLL rivalry those two teams have.

My Bad, I was thinking of Johnson not Cummings, but Cummings did play in the fall and was looking strong. Its too bad neither will be playing this year. I wonder who will be covering Dean this weekend since Cannis is out.

Is Pete Langkhammerer still playing? I think he still has one more year of eligibility, but could be mistaken. He's a very solid player and I think he could do a good job on Dean (well, as good as you can do against Dean).

Pete is still playing. Also, Jeff Virden is also playing, I believe. I think he got some WCLL honors last year.

Correct- Virden was third team WCLL last year.

Here's who Sonoma lost:

Brian Johnson- 1st Team WCLL, 3rd Team AA, Broken Hand
Michael Cannis- 1st Team WCLL, 1st Team AA, Eligibility
John David Hamann- 1st Team WCLL, 1st Team AA, Graduation
Chris Esposito- 2nd Team WCLL, 2nd Team AA, Graduation
Chris O'Mahoney- WCLL HM, Graduation

After that, I don't know who they lost.

Jon Wiley graduated as well. He was a WCLL All Star midfielder.
Sonoma lost 6 all stars... the same as UCSB.

All of the teams that are consistently at the top of the league loose talent every year but find a way to continue to succeed. UCSB has proved that already this year and SSU has done it in the past and I'm sure they will do it again this year. When you start a team of all-stars the people playing under them for a couple of years are ready when their time comes.
