I think the biggest surprise coming out of this weekend has to be the Chapman loss/ UCLA win. I knew that UCLA had a solid squad, but the implications behind the loss are huge. With that win, if UCLA can take the rest of their games in their division, they're in the playoffs. If UCLA can win all of their games, then Chapman is out (assuming UCSB wins too).
I know it's early in the season, but it's gotta be tough looking at the next couple weeks and knowing that a playoff berth is determined by other teams. I think Chapman may be the best team not going to WCLL playoffs this year- or at least they're headed in that direction.

Agreed Waterboy.
Assuming that UCSB locks the top spot, the Los Angeles division playoffs have a high liklihood of being shaped on March 10th during the UCLA vs USC game. If UCLA wins, they should be in the playoffs (as I don't see them losing to LMU). If USC wins, then the Trojans would have to beat Chapman also to lock in their spot; but a win over UCLA and a loss to Chapman would potentially create a 3 way tie. Interesting playoff race this year...

Another score that surprised me today was Chico over Stanford by one, 6-5. Definitely closer than I would have thought and tells me two things: 1) Stanford is much better than last year as they have given SC and UCLA tough games (and beat a good OSU squad), and 2) Chico may not be quite as strong as they have been in recent years.

Have you ever seen OSU play? Stanford wasn't lookin to good when they played Oregon earlier in the season. It's hard for me to understand where Chico had problems in this game?!
