While I think that the cost of the Premium isn't too much to pay, lets be honest here, not too many people have signed up for it. You need to ask yourself "why?". Yes, it keeps this site afloat, but to be honest, there isn't a huge benefit at all for the Premium membership.

Look at other sites, laxpower, etc. All with free message boards. If you take the ability of the fans to find out the scores you may just run the off all that haven't paid or just visit this board. USLIA.com has a good amount of members, but there are way more players out there than members, so there is no need to force the Premium membership on anyone for just the benefit of scores.

Make the Premium membership worth something. To do that, you need to offer something other than "exclusive information" and scores. Offer some gear (we all know lacrosse players love gear) or something like tying in a US Lacrosse membership, or even making everyone pay for the insurance that mens club gets from being required to be a USL member.

Just my opinion.

That's true, but from what I'm seeing anyhow, most of the people doing the updating are premium members in the first place- it will perpetuate itself I think.

It's not a bad idea- on the flip side what will that do to regular members who want to see scores- is it worth the cost of angering people by witholding game scores?

It seems that quite a few people want an awful lot for nothing in return. It would be nice is everything was always free in this world, but that's just not going to happen.

I recall quite the uproar when Sonny announced last year that there wasn't going to be the normal coverage of the MDIA tournament that people became accustomed to in the past. These were things like live game updates, feature articles on every game, even streaming video one year. Well, guess what folks, it's probably not going to happen again this year unless more people start ponying up and supporting this site. You may not even get his blog which was a last minute thing that Sonny took on last year with the hope that he'd get his costs covered. Further, I predict that the people who complain the loudest will be those that are also unwilling to support this site.

I understand the argument that there are other free sites out there and there is a need not to chase some of these people away and yada yada yada, but come on, it's 10 lousy frickin' bucks. That's the equivalent of 2 drinks to deny yourself the next time you go out to a bar. Think about it.

And just as an addition to CATLAXMAN's post, it's not limited to 10 dollars- you can donate as much as you want- 3, 4, 5 drinks worth if you want.

Not live ones though, Aaron. I think that is what DG was referring to.

I have now joined the elite group and am currently waiting for Sonny to pimp my profile.

I was adding to waterboy's post about withholding scores. scores can be found (once uploaded) at those two sites. live updates should definitely be a premium service.
