Comments from the sidelines
So, after playing a couple of games on the road this weekend, I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing (as long as it stays appropriate) some of the things opposing fans have yelled at you or your teammates from the sidelines? Anything funny?

Chico has some really brutal fans but the worst I have ever seen, without a doubt, are at Sonoma State. I'd repeat some of the 'Noma chants but that would break the Message Board rules and get me censored.

I've heard some horror stories about Whitman fans from several years back, apparently some pretty crazy stuff happened and student expulsions and/or other serious punishment for the Whitman kids were involved, correct me if this is wrong. The one game I played there they were pretty rowdy.
Oh yeah, and probly the one that made me laugh the most was them focusing on one of our attackmen he had the ball and all screaming "He's a witch! He's a witch!" a vague reference to the fact we are from Salem. Pretty odd reference but hilarious.

The fans are pretty rowdy, but I haven't heard anything about expulsions / punishment. The couches are out on Ankeny, and usually fans bring their own refreshments to the game. If it's sunny + warm, prepare for a big group well-hydrated with Electric Lemonade.
My favorite cheer: whenever we would score on Simon Fraser, the fans would sing "Oh Canada."
Most Absurd cheer: UW goalie Tim Jackson's nickname at Mercer Island HS was imported onto Ankeny field. Fans chanted "Spanky" every time a goal was scored on him. Sorry Tim...
Most Absurd opponent reaction: Lewis and Clark player was being heckled for his socks, was having a pretty bad game, and decided to moon the crowd. Of course this stoked the Whitties into a frenzy and the heckling continued. After this kid was knocked out of bounds he picked up the ball and shot it at some fans sitting on a couch.

i was at a minnesota swarm game not too long ago and we were playing the rochester knighthawks if im not mistaken. they have someone on their team with the last name "hoar". so every time he would touch the ball I, along with many other people throughout the stadium would just start yelling "hoar!!! hoar!!!!!".

The two best that i've ever heard have been aimed at goalies. Both happened after the opposing team scored...
1.) The crowd started chanting sieve, sieve, sieve (you know like a strainer) for about 10 seconds. Then the leader would yell "He's not a sieve, he's a vacuum cleaner" and everyone else would come back "he's not a vacuum cleaner...HE JUST SUCKS!!"
2.)The other was "Hey goalie...you let your whoooole team downnnnn" and repeated until the next face off.
The first one made me chuckle, the second is just biting enough...

A few weeks ago at Harding, some fan was heckling me the entire game because my shoe laces clashed with the stripe on our uniforms (red lace, maroon stripe). Not that it was hurtful, but it sure was effective, I was laughing during the face off and missed the whistle. Unfortunately that was all he could come up with so I had to listen to the same remark for an hour.
I'll tell you, those Harding kids have no mercy.

The vacuum series (you're not a goalie, you're a sieve...you're not a seive, you're a vacuum...you're not a vacuum, you're a black hole...you're not a black hole, you just suck, you just suck, you just suck, etc.) is an old one. Michigan hockey fans do it, along with a lot of other coreographed, creative chants. I first heard it about 20 years ago from Cornell lacrosse fans.
Best heckles I've heard came from the first time we went to play at BYU, about 8 years ago. Picked up on our film, since he was filming from the crowd side of the field: "Hey number 4, you have a dirty bottom" and "Hey number 3, you have no friends." Very clean, as you would expect from BYU fans. Unique enough that it got a reaction from guys used to hearing that they suck from fans or worse. In fact, it was true that #3 had no friends, and he was hurt by the comments.

Heckles
We were playing at Vandy about 7-8 years ago. We had a tall skinny defenseman #48 and a short dumpy defenseman #31 on the field. A vandy fan yelled "Hey 31 quit eating all of 48's food."
That was pretty funny.
The same season we were playing Alabama. They had a chubby goalie. We scored and one of our fans yelled "I bet if that was a donut you would have caught it."
That also made me laugh.
