Wow. I am really proud of these young Gauchos. With 15 freshmen on the roster, there were alot of questions how this team would be going in.
It is a tribute to the coaching staff and the 3 returning senior starters that a team as young as this one has shown so much heart.
Down 8-4, and they came back to win 10-9 in OT. And still UCSB has not given up double figures in goals allowed since May of 2003 (when Florida did it in a losing effort).
I have no idea how the rest of season will go but these guys have shown me alot already. If they can keep their concentration, they'll be competitive all year.

Also, I think now it has been over 3 years that they have lost a home game. Certainly was on the line today. Good job, Gauchos.
It doesn't get any easier with Colorado State coming to town on Thursday.

I had a chance to see the Chapman v. Santa Clara game and Chapman played horrible but their talent exceeds their flaws still having a commanding win over Santa who?

Way to go Chapman. Nice win over Santa Clara. And it doesn't get any harder after this!

Question?
"It is a tribute to the coaching staff and the 3 returning senior starters that a team as young as this one has shown so much heart."
Who's the third returning senior starter? I only count 2, Damon and Nick Schooler. Nick Stratton is a Jr. in eligibilty and will be playing next year. Who else am I missing? Thanks

Nick Stratton. I think he is graduating this year.
I have been trying to remember when was the time before the 2003 Florida game when a team scored in double figures against UCSB. But, the UCSB website is such an unbelievable disaster that all the old links are gone. I think it may have been the USLIA consolation game loss to BYU in 2001.
Of course this string could end on Thursday when high scoring CSU comes to town.

Commanding win? I think not. It was tied 9-9 in the 4th quarter. Santa Clara was playing their third game in 3 days. This should have been a walkover for them and it wasn't. This should hurt Chapman in the polls.

Thanks, Danny. I knew it couldn't have been that long but I didn't think to check laxpower. I used to check the UCSB website, BUT.....no archives yet this year.
The CSU game was in the semi finals of the 2002 MDIA tournament. The ensuing consolation game for third place was probably the greatest game no one saw. UCSB over BYU 7-6 in double overtime, FOR THIRD PLACE! WHAT A WAR.

Here we go again with your big talking. Chapman beats two top 20 teams within 3 days by 7-9 goals, and then plays this game against Santa Clara. Without 3 starters and others, tired, and beat up from the day before, Chapman played down a bit to their competition. Santa Clara truly came out firing, and played a very hard fought game. In the end, Chapman won the game. If winning three games in one weekend hurts them in the polls, then I would love to round house kick that ad wizards in charge of making the decisions. If you want to talk about a key LOSS that well HELP Chapman in the polls, it is the consistent powerhouse team BYU losing in overtime by the EXACT SAME SCORE of the Chapman vs UCSB double overtime game. Maybe Chapman is okay after all.
Let's see what this young team can do against Cal Poly on friday.
Keep your nose clean!

You seem to have a problem with anger management, Chuck, on top of sugar coating facts.
The fact is that Chapman has helped themselves tremendously so far. To me, their loss was their most impressive outing. Their wins over Chico & Utah are good, but I think you will see by season's end that the win over Utah will not mean that much. They have a real chance of being a 10 loss team this year. The fact that you seem to gloss over is that this outing against Santa Clara cannot possibly help them. Yes, it was a win, but it should've been by a lot. Chapman may have had a chance to break into the Top 15 before this game. You're deluding yourself if you think that this game won't hurt Chapman a little in the polls, maybe not as much as the loss to UCSB helps them, but it will hurt.
