I think the olympics take lacrosse, it'll be similiar to world games... It's just not big enough yet for the olympics. Someday maybe, I hope. I know this sentiment was echoed elsewhere in the forums, but I can't recall where.

On a different note, my boy Bode Miller was disqualified from the combined for crotching a gate today... He was in first place after two events.

Well, looks like I'm placing my hopes on the US Mens Hockey Team, now.

I think lacrosse needs to develop more of an international presence to be considered. USA, England, Canada & Australia are not going to cut it. Yes, it's being played in other countries, but they'd get beat by the average 8th grade team in the US.

That's honestly one of the coolest scientific breakthroughs I've heard of in years. I'll have to get working on some of this to build my supersuit. I'm going to be an action hero with that stuff.

On a serious note though, the implications and uses for a reactive polymer are countless. I literally think of something that it could be used for every couple seconds. If this is something that they really develop and it turns fruitful, this is the kind of thing that will re-revolutionize the plastics industry. Cool article for sure.

But at least Russia lost, so getting into the Medal rounds is not impossible.

The key is going to be NOT getting the #4 seed (i.e. play canada 1rst round).

But not an inspired effort.

The US has done a decent job in the past 3-5 years developing some good young defensemen (Leopold, Liles...) and there are some great young American defensemen in the college ranks like Jack Johnson and Matt Carle. But the US has not developed a top-flight scorer since Mike Modano. Maybe Kessel or Parise can change that in the coming years. If not, they will continue to struggle on the international stage (i.e. unlikely to medal this year, didn't medal at the World Juniors...)

Yeah it is a dissapointing tie, but most of the team arrived in Italy the Day before their first game due to the blizzards in the NorthEast.

I believe that they will rebound and play big.

Being a Dallas Stars Fan, I like the way Finland is looking with Jere Lehtinen and Jussi Jokinen both scoring Power Play goals. If Finland gets to a shootout in the medal rounds, watch Jokinen (an NHL rookie), in the NHL he is 100% on his shootout attempts this year.

It is interesting to note that the US gold medal haul is coming from two sources: twice from speedskating (Hedrick and Cheek) and four from snowboarding (Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Scott Westscott, and I forgot the fourth one). Scott Westscott is the first person to win the gold in SBX (snowboardcross) and he is from US. That was fun watching those SBX races.

It is possible that some of you have already seen (I haven't seen it) a movie called First Descent, a movie about 4 snowboarders being helicoptered to the top of the mountain and left them there. It appears that the plan is for them to go downhill on their skis. Two of them are Shaun White and Hannah Teter.
