LSA Week 4 (Feb 15th - 21st) - Discuss/Report Scores

Postby LaxTastic on Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:13 am

that's no way for a head coach to be talking. it embarrasses yourself and looks bad on your entire team... stick to your own forum, guy
but i guess if we respected your opinion we would know where Waunakee is.

"Texas Tech - 10

Wash U - 9

Wash U led 7-5 at half, and 9-7 after 3, but didn't have the depth on the bench and Tech took over in the 4th. A great game to watch...tough game to lose."

Yes, however we did travel some 800+ miles (13 hours) on a bus on Wed, play Lindenwood in a tough lost on Thurs 7-12. But the point of the matter is that losing demoralizes your team, especially on a road trip, and they tend to not play as well. Also who did Wash U play the night before? No one. So a tired dishearted travel squad was able to pull out a win against a fresh home team who just didn't have the depth. All my point is from what I saw of Wash U that day I don't think that they had the players to beat SMU this weekend, but as I said before if Wash U has a better team from last year I wouldn't know. I haven't seen them play.

Let's stay on topic fellas.

For the record - I think it is highly inappopriate for current MDIA coaches to predict MDIA games and/or comment on other MDIA teams/conferences.

For the record, Mark Anderson is no longer coaching at Texas Tech or in the MDIA.

For what it's worth, I can offer some insight (albeit little) into the WashU/SMU game. While I don't know that SMU/Texas are as equal as the score indicates (without watching the game, how could I?), I would imagine they are pretty close. Both WashU and UT gave us a lesson in playing lacrosse. UT's bench is deeper than WashU's, no doubt, but WashU executed well the entire game versus us. SMU does have the benefit of already playing in a high pressure game, but they may already be travel weary by Saturday. Assuming SMU and UT are really on par with each other, I give WashU the edge.

Texas State vs. Cali

Postby ucdlax on Wed Feb 15, 2006 1:31 pm

Just thought I would throw out there on the jet lag comment for Texas State that UC Davis has an 8 hour drive Friday evening to get to Irvine...might play a factor. Also how is Texas State? OOC Scores last year? Vs. Elite LSA teams? Some good judgements for UCD last year are Somoma 10 UCD 5, UCD 14 Santa Clara 7, OOC Simon Frasor 7 UCD 4

Looks to be a great weekend of lax and good luck to all teams competing!

That is correct because everyone will note that Mark has his signature where he says Texas Tech ex. The current coach of Texas Tech is Stu Shaw.

I thought that meant he graduated from Tech.

I'm sure Mark just loves all this publicity ... :D

It's painful discussing all these games and not having one to play myself this weekend.

I think the LSA is gonna have great success OOC this season.

Thanks, we've been working really hard. Coming off a season that was brought to a sudden halt at 0-2, we really had nowhere to go but up this year.

Best of luck to everyone playing OOC this weekend!

As for the jet lag comment, I'm pretty sure our guy was kidding. However we do have half of our team, myself included, driving in a van out to California. It will take us at least 8 hours just to get out of Texas.

Best wishes to the following LSA teams in their OOC games (out of state and in-state):

UTA
SMU
Austin College
Texas State
OSU
Southwestern

Not only that they need our "best wishes" or "good luck", they also need our prayers and thoughts that they will have safe traveling to and back.

Now at this juncture, LSA will have its most busy weekend- this Saturday with so many games in-state and out-of-state.
