Non-lacrosse specific topics.

I am a brother of Pi Kappa Alpha along with 2 other teammates

as well on the UGA team we have:
Kappa Sigma
Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Sigma Chi
Theta Chi
Chi Phi
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Pi Kappa Phi
Beta Theta Pi
Phi Kappa Psi

id say we got a broad range of brothers from different fraternities. as well as some GDI's

as for the word "frat" we dont say it here @ uga not for some reason in particular, just cause it sounds dumb.

And if you correct their use of the term, it proves that particular point even more.

I think we have six different fraternities represented on our team. As far as the "frat" issue, I was taught you don't call your fraternity a frat like you don't call your country a...count.

the majority of the guys on our team are in a fraternity.
i am a pike, along with 9 other guys on the team. we have 3 SAE i believe. 1 Delt. and 5 Phi Delts so out of about 25, 18 guys are in a fraternity.
our lacrosse team is basically a fraternity. because all our games are on weekends, most of us cant go to our fraternity's formal, so we are having a lacrosse formal this weekend after our game, it should be a blast

A buddy of mine freshman year was in a fraternity... I asked him one night if he was going to a "frat" party. He asked me politely to sit down so he could explain how "frat" was a derogatory word. His exact words were, and i quote "you wouldn't call your mother a "moth" would you?" I simply lost any respect i had for fraternities then and continue to refer to them in "derogatory" fashion.

I agree. Funny how the fraternities abbreviate all their names though when referring to themselves and others. As far as Moth-Mother, Count-Country, these are very poor analogies. When I was at TAMU, the cadets referred to themselves as CTs (Corps Terds) and the band referred to themselves as BQs (Band Queers). I guess by embracing these terms they lost their negative connotation. Of course that never stopped people from trying to use them as a put down, albeit a rather weak one.

It's not "count" it's the mother of all "c" words that girls do not enjoy being called...

IMHO, "frat" refers to a different interpretation to those members of a fraternity. When I hear "frat", I think Animal House and the boneheads of Delta Tau Zeta. When I hear "fraternity", I think of a classier bunch of individuals. Some fit the mold for both classifications, but I take pride in being a fraternity member. Sometimes it bothers me and sometimes it doesn't--depends on the individual I'm speaking to.
