Report from the Oosterbaan

Michigan brought in CCLA B Div. Dayton, Div. III Wittenburg, and CCLA A Div Oakland for scrimmages today. Michigan & Oakland did not face each other. Teams played two 15 minute quarters against each other.

Dayton played a solid quarter against both Michigan and Oakland. Their defense got out of the gate slowly, giving up several goals to Michigan in the first quarter. Michigan's scoring slowed down in the second quarter. In their first quarter against Oakland, the Dayton defense seemed to hold together pretty well, but got ragged again in their final quarter on the field.

Oakland showed some significant team speed in the two quarters I saw.

Michigan's defense forced/benefitted from several turnovers in their games periods against Dayton and Wittenburg. Senior captain Jim Constantine looked particularly strong from his midfield position.

I assume this was the first action of the season for all of the teams, though I didn't think to ask that of anybody from the visiting teams.
