Maybe we should have a MLL team in Plano too.

You got to realize that SMU is opening its season against three of the four teams that made it to the semifinals in playoffs last year. They have lost the first two of those games, but both were very close. Now I don't know much about the UT team this year but it wouldn't surprise me if SMU has another close game this weekend. SMU will make it to the playoffs this year, and how far they go will depend on how much the young team comes together.

Im gonna have to go with Mark on this one... on top of the fact that SMU's first three opponents are good, by the end of the weekend Carrington will have faced what will probably be the top three poles in the league in Matthieson for Tech, Dufour for A&M, and Young for UT. i dont know that all three covered him throughout the games, but i would imagine they at least had their eyes on him.

Food for thought.

The UT/SMU game has the potential to be a good game. I remember hearing talk earlier in the year about SMU being a new-look, much improved team. They have always played teams like A&M and Tech close, just haven't been able to consistently get big wins. You better believe the Horns will be out for revenge after last year's loss to SMU. I'll be curious to know if Carrington has a breakout game. Also, word is they have some D-pole who transferred from a D1 school. Anyone know anything about him??

I heard he came from dennison with carrington. take it with a grain of salt though, ive never spoken to either.

after seeing them play, i will say that their entire defense is pretty stout.

Actually, the SMU/UT game had already been slated to be played in Austin according to the LSA master list when it came out in around December, 2005; furthermore, I checked the UT website which shows SMU playing at UT. In other words, the game had not been moved at all. I had to bring that up with the UT coach and the SMU guys after noticing that UT was "scheduled" to play SMU according to uslmdia.org and to Laxpower.

Uh, are you mistaking the Mens Lax team with the Mens Football team? I am pretty sure there is nobody named Young who plays for UT. Unless, Vince has given up his football aspirations and decided to lax it up.

Actually it was my boy Joey Saladino from TEXAS A&M who shut Carrington down throughout the entirity of the game. Just wanted to clear that up and give some props to Joey. You guys should watch this kid and continue to expect great defense from him

Just got the word from Southwestern:

The game between Stephen F. Austin and Southwestern for tomorrow is cancelled and will be played at a later date.

Originally, the game between SU and SFA would have been played at SFA on Feb. 4, but it did not materialize b/c of rain. This time, it is not a weather-related issue. If anyone is interested in knowing about the reason behind the second postponement of the SFA/SU game, I suggest that you send an email to either Shawn Arend at shawnarend@houston.rr.com or Bill Bowman at bowmanlax23@ev1.net.

All I can say that there were other reasons that led to the necessary postponement of the Lumberjacks-Pirates game tomorrow.
