As long as there is no Paul McGuire. He and Theisman are the two most annoying announcers on television, especially when they are feeding off of each other. I'm no fan of Theisman, but maybe without diaherrea-mouth McGuire in the booth, he'll settle down. I agree that ESPN Sunday Night Football was unwatchable towards the end because of them. Tirico is fine too, but he reminds me of an overzealous college announcer. Should be interesting at least, but I think we'll see a new group within three years.
Always on point . . .

Theismann was the only person on national TV to call for the Patriots upset over the Rams in the Super Bowl a few years back....GENIUS! Tirico rubs me as a basketball announcer, seems like thats all I can see him as with him on the NBA stuff all the time, but I can get used to him. Kornheiser though? I can't believe everyone thinks this is such a great idea! Yeah he's hilarious, and yes I love his viewpoints on PTI when he rants and raves next to Wilbon, but as an announcer? I think we have a Dennis Milleresque self-destruction on hand here.

And where is Al Michaels? The Voice of MNF for years is not brought in? What, was Disney too busy designing their futuristic Mickey costumes and IraqiDisney to transfer his contract from ABC to their other company ESPN?

Al Michaels and Madden in the NBC booth, with Bonnie Bernstein on the sideline. Costas and Collinsworth from the studio.

Here is the article:

Also, the MNF tech crew will be going over to NBC, along with the director and producer.

I love what he did for the Skins and his restaurant in DC kicks ass, but good ol' Joe ThEEsmann (ha) tends to irritate me in the booth. Especially when he rips on Washington every year for whoever is playing QB. Not because they suck, but because they're not him. I think Kornheiser will do well... let's just see how it plays out. Hopefully Tirico gets some excitement in his play-by-play, because we all know how boring he can get. He's no Al Michaels.

My question is, who will be doing Sunday/Thursday night football? Is it still going to be on ESPN? If it's just Patrick and Maguire I'll freak.

I think a lot of you are too young to remember the bombastic Mr. Cossell - now THERE was a controversial figure in the press box.
You can always turn down the volume, or switch to the radio for your audio. I'm often driving at night and enjoy the radio announcers, such as Bob Trumpy.
Also, it's all about the game. If it's a good game I could care less who's calling it, since I'm so interested in who's going to win and how my players are doing. :)
The amazing thing this pasat season is that it seems like there were a tone of games where I turned it off at midnight with one team well in the lead, only to wake up and find out that there was a miracle comeback. They must have had the Super Bowl crew working the midnight to 1 AM shift.

Just read this in Denver Daily News:
John Madden, Michaels' broadcast partner for the last four seasons, agreed in June to a six-year contract with NBC.

'Al was not comfortable and let us know he was not comfortable with our vision of where we are going,' ESPN executive vice president John Skipper said after Wednesday's announcement. 'Back in November he said it was the greatest job ever invented. So sometime between the last couple of weeks and November apparently he had a change of heart.'

I thought TK hated to fly, guess he'll have to get over that. It will also be weird when wilbon is in studio and TK is on the road. So much for TK's 9 pm bedtime.

Didn't know that. I know Madden hates it... and that's why he retired from coaching early.

They said on Mike and Mike in the morning that he would be taking a bus "bigger than the Madden cruiser". Also, PTI would be on the road sometimes now during the season.
