B division love

Postby primetime21 on Tue Feb 15, 2005 3:14 am

i know this year is maybe the first year our B division is appropriately put together. but how come the B teams aren't getting any love. #6PLU and #9 western washington played a gut wrenching game on sunday and there is nothing on the web page about it. We as B teams are trying to make a name for ourselves and make a reputable division. where are the other B teams at and what are we representing?

I will post well constructed (formal) team press releases as news items on USLIA.com from all MDIA teams (both Division A and Division B). But I'm at the mercy of the teams involved to submit these press releases to the web site.

I obviously cannot track 190+ teams nationwide by myself here in Georgia. I"m glad to hear that you are trying to make a name for yourself, but lots of teams play "gut-wrenching games," week in and week out in the MDIA. I wouldn't consider yourself unique in that department.

oh of course not...i meant nothing by me saying that we are a unique team....or that we are the only team that plays gut wrenching games. by no means would i disrespect any team here who puts in the work and effort. i was just wondering when the B division was going to start getting the national attention that the A division gets. sorry sonny if i came across wrong.

Primetime,
Start dating an aspiring journalist, and get her to all of your games. If any of the PNCLL teams want to get some national attention, we have to create it ourselves, by letting everyone know what happened. People are following B league action even if you don't see tons of posts about it. Schools across the country have played CSU and UCSB, so they have a common ground to talk about it. Very few B teams, if any, travel as extensively, hence less people have something to talk about. B league talk will get better when more OOC games are played. I'm sure after our (PLU and UPS) trip to Boise, you're going to hear good or bad things about the outcome. What I've been doing is checking the weekly postings in each forum, it gives you a decent indication of what teams are doing in their respective leagues...

I'm with primetime. We need some exposure. I live in Durango Colorado our population is about 20,000 and about 20 people come to our games. Albeit we play for a club team at a no name school but we are ranked nationally! And i don't care who you are it feels great to play in front of lots of people. Maybe a spot on ESPN? i saw professional darts the other day! Our team is way cooler and more fun to watch than those guys!

Dont worry respect for the B Division is coming. We now have a National championship and things can only get better! the MLL had only what, 4 out of the 6 (or 8) teams in the semi, and final championship. getting people to lax games is going to help out alot for the devision. as for gut wrenching games!! hope to see you at the championship this year!!

Professional darts, the Pro bowling Tour, Killerspin championships are things of glory. Are you saying that ESPN should get rid of such fabulous sports.
I love the game of lacrosse, but if ESPN was crowded with all the "gut-wrenching games" of USLIA div b games then these abstract sports will loose airtime, and to that i say BOO. :( :x primtime, to you also, i say BOO

Come on people, I thought we are all hear to promote the great sport of lacrosse (regardless of our feelings about darts.) We should not boo our fellow players. Yes, I am in Div. B SELC but i think that our games do deserve full coverage like Primetime said. We should all try to get the Div B games updated so that scores n recaps can be available n hopefully people can see that our games are incrediably interesting and fun.

I play div. B for UC Irvine in California and we just went to texas and went 3-0 against 2 top 20 ranked teams. Last year we won one game so this is quite a turnaround. There were 2 stories this week on the USLIA web page about teams who went undefeated in texas but we were forgotten. I think we should get just as much coverage if not more because of our record last year and our margins of victory which were between 8 and 17. I guess we'll just have to stay undefeated until someone recognizes us, they'll be talking about us once playoffs come around. UCI lax baby!!

Have your Sports Information Dept, or someone on your team write a formal press release written the correct way and I am sure Sonny and his staff will consider putting it up. Thats what we had to do, its not that hard. You have to work to get the "love".

I will not "throw" anything up on the web page.

Formal team press releases need to be well written (strict 3rd person format, no game commentary, proper spelling/grammar) and including game statistics for both teams involved. I don't have the time to re-write the press release for you. Follow the lead of Michigan and Colorado State for examples. It ain't rocket science folks, but it does take a concerted, sustained effort by a few people to get it done.

Didn't we send you a "Official" Press release from our press conference at the school? If it was only an e-mail, then I understand why you may not have posted it, just wondering. I know you got all of us at heart!
