Jake Plummer played simply awful today at home. Props to the Seattle defense for shutting down Steve Smith. Didn't think they could do it, but I was wrong.

Two weeks to go till the big game in Detroit.... Let the hype begin.

It is time that Bill Cowher and the Pittsburgh Steelers get rewarded for not firing their coaches every time they do not make the play-offs. The model of consistency will get their reward...

Recharged after watching Mick Jagger at half time, Bettis gets some rooster like swagger and stuffs in a third quarter touchdown. Steelers hold on 24-14.

Hopefully, this year's game is as close at the end as last year's game. There is nothing like a huge game going down to the final few minutes.

I understand there is an All Points Bulletin out for the Carolina Panthers, who failed to show for their NFC championship game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Man was that embarrassing! They couldn't get much pressure on Hasselbeck, who shredded them with passes to his entire wide receiver and tight end corps, including a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch by the second-string QB, Seneca Wallace. 3 first downs in the first half - sad. The lack of a running game (nasty concussion to Goings too!) certainly hurt, Seattle also did great ball denial on Steve Smith and the rest of the crew had a bad case of the dropsies when the ball would actually make it to them.
Having Carolina in my pool, it was depressing. Watch out for the Steelers though - they're hitting on all cylinders, Bettis gets his wish to end his career at home. Should be an excellent game!

Since the Panthers lost, I am now on the Steeler bandwagon. I used to live there so, I am not new.

They were probably kipnapped and replaced with an NFL Europe team. I that's what happened to my NY Giants the week before.

Did anyone notice that even with Nick Goings in, the Panthers were 3 and out the first 2 drives? I know the Panthers were off, but I believe it had more to do with the Seattle D, and the offense controlling the ball. It was nice to see the Hawks fire on all cylinders for once.

Stupid Broncos...they didn't lose at home all season until yesterday. Plummer only plays well when his team is leading and he doesn't have to try to make plays, but he also didn't have a lot of time back in the pocket.

At this point with the storylines Pittsburgh has (Cowher trying to win it all, Bettis playing in his hometown), it's hard to say you don't want the Steelers to win (unless you live in the Pacific Northwest or you like a different team in the AFC North).

Yeah with Bettis going to his first Super Bowl in his hometown, in what will probably be his last game. Its hard not to root for that.

The parallels between Bettis and one, Timmy Smith of the 1987 Washington Redskins are amazing. Smith played his last game in the Super Bowl, rushing for a then record 204 yards in the Super Bowl versus Denver.

Everyone remembers this one for the famous "So Doug (Williams), how long have you been a black quarterback?" question. Smith was not heard from again on the field after this game. Last I heard of him off the field was he got arrested near Dallas on drug and gun charges.

But thank you, Timmy. Thank you for your dance. Some might know it as the "Cabbage Patch" but those of us from Chocolate City know it by its real name.

I don't really care who wins, but I'll probably cheer for Seattle only because they've never been to the Super Bowl, and not only has Pittsburgh won it several times, it was usually against Dallas, and at least one of those on horrible non-calls by an official! That means I have to cheer for whoever Pittsburgh is playing.

Having said that, Pittsburgh deserves a lot of credit for what they have done this year, particularly the last three weekends!

I think it would have been nice to know that Jake the Snake had the flu this week. As a Denver resident and somewhat of a Broncos fan, I kinda think we deserved to know that going into the game. I also think it's kind of funny how the Pitt/Den game was hyped as the game that was going to come down to who can run the ball and both teams were shut down early on. Like we've said, Denver was undefeated at home all season until yesterday and Plummer was almost flawless as well. That's because it wasn't all on his hands for once. Give the sick guy too much to pull off and take out two great running backs in Anderson and Bell and the outcome is pretty much determined. I think Jake's getting a little too much of the heat while the Broncs D is flying under the radar, for now. Either way, props to the Steelers and the Seahawks. Hopefully it will bring a good game to Detroit.

Looks like most of you think the Steelers are going to win the game. A No. 6 seed winning the whole enchilada (3 in a row on the road in the playoffs) would be an amazing story.
