So, I heard this rumor, and I was wondering if anyone in the know could confirm or deny. Supposedly, one of the sponsors from last year's tournament applied a great deal of pressure to keep the tournament out of Minnesota. They were allegedly pushing for San Diego, but there was no bid from San Diego, so then they pushed for Dallas.
If this is true, no big deal. That's what sponsors do. But then they said that this sponsor has not even committed to sponsoring the 2006 tournament. If that's true, I think it's really dumb. I think the sponsor should be forced to sign on the dotted line before they get to start dictating terms.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Like I said, it's not necessarily the influence that I find to be odd; however, if it's true they moved it because last year's sponsor demanded it, but that that sponsor wasn't signed on for this year, that's pretty silly. Make them sign on before you do stuff for them!
