James Foote-
I hear what you are saying. I guess my point is that I don't want to hear hype until he is on his way to being Jordan-ish, not now when he is still just "pretty good".

in your book there is not a space between 'pretty good' and 'jordanesq'
kobe is no jordan, but how about d*mn good or very good.
Jordan didn't get any rings without pippen. Kobe has no pippen right now.

ok, so everyone's talking about kobe was being selfish and not making those around him better...who exactly does he have around him? lamar odom (as much as i love him, great late pick-up in my fantasy draft) is no pippen, and smush isnt even a paxon. he was sharing the ball in the first half, and they were down something like 19 points. he took over and they won by double digits. i dont know if jordon would've done much different. kobe refused to lose the game, and did what he had to do to make his team win. sounds like something jordon would've done. (and by no means am i saying kobe is near the player or teammate jordon was, nor will he ever be. im just saying, anybody but kobe does this, and everybody would be praising how someone like lebron took over the game and won it for his team.)

Kobe's career stats (through 666 games )
23.2ppg / 4.4apg / 5.1rpg / 1.45spg
Jordan's career stats (1072 games)
30.1ppg / 5.3apg / 6.2rpg / 2.35spg
LeBron's career stats ( through 197 games)
25.4ppg / 6.5apg / 6.5rpg / 1.86spg
Shaq's career stats (through 905 games)
26.5ppg / 2.8apg / 11.9rpg / .67spg
While I see Kobe increasing his points per game, I don't see him increasing his assists or steals enough to catch Jordan. LeBron has a chance at all of Jordan's numbers (and even surpassing his rebounding #'s) Numbers wise, Shaq looks pretty good because he is the only one to average a Double-double.
Six rings will be the true test for Kobe or LeBron to surpass his Airness in terms of greatest player of our time.

Dually noted. If I were to make a team of 5 out of all of the players in the NBA today, I'll tell you this much... Kobe's probably not on the list. James, Shaq, McGrady, Duncan, and Wade or AI.
All-time list, Jordan's my #1 pick.

McGrady makes other's better. I know the Magic were awful for a lot of the time he was there, but he made his [terrible] teammates just a little better. Plus he's a hometown guy.
