Russell Creek does have a concession stand (an old-style house) and a pavilion under which to eat. there is a tournament-board area in which soccer tourneys post brackets and results and also put up a tournament HQ area. All of these things are located in the same area as the Competition fields that are fenced in (the greenest fields in the above photo).

Jess, last time I was out there (this past summer) that concession stand wasn't open. I just assumed they didn't use it anymore. I figured they would bring in that truck that they had for the Richardson tourney.

I dont know what event you were at, but PYSA and PSA always have it open when I'm out there for major tournaments and for regular league play.

Southwest flies out of Love Field, which is less than 5 minutes from Highland Park HS and 1 mile from the tollway, which will get you to Russell Creek Park, the Galleria, Frisco, and downtown Dallas. dont forget about FC Dallas being in Frisco also.

Other reasons for Dallas being great is that you can get plenty of SHiner Bock beer and Dr Pepper in TX. and we all know that TX BBQ is the greatest in the world. Heck, even breast implants were invented in TX. if that aint heaven, then i dont know what is.

I for one am thrilled. Regardless of the weather the folks at Blaine did a very poor job of creating an event and we need to go elsewhere. Some how I think the Texans are going to really do it up. I can't wait!

as someone who hasnt been to the lou since i was seven, never set foot in minnesota, and lived in dallas for about 12 years, let me offer a phenomenally unbiased opinion:
dallas wins in a landslide as far as food, bars, lodging, and all other forms of nightlife are concerned (dont even get me started on strip clubs). Weather will be lovely. Highlander stadium was sweet five years ago and I find it hard to imagine it has gone downhill since then. Parking and transportation may be problems... But if that's your main concern, your priorities disgust me. I, for one, will be there with bells on as I welcome any opportunity to get away from the east coast if only for a weekend.

I understand that this year they're welcoming it with open arms. Should be quite the event - I heard that they want to do it up "Texas Big", and witht he involvement of all the lacrosse groups in the area I'm sure it will be a smashing success (assuming it doesn't snow ).

Last year there were a lot of gaps with communication. It was never clear whether or not volunteers were needed and when. It was a mess. I hope this year that the people organizing the tournament do a better job with communication to the local groups. If this communication gap continues then the tournament will not be a success. If this tournament fails it will not be Dallas' fault just like last year it was not Minnesota's fault. It comes down to how USL provides what the local groups need.

"The folks" in Minnesota had little to no influence on how things were handled at Blaine. In fact, we were told by the powers that be, that volunteers were not needed, and trust me, we asked.

I'm not trying to start a flame war here, but it seems to me like the vast majority of the complaints are coming from California residents.

You guys got your wish, Blaine didn't get a second chance. Move on, stop whining, and stop trying to blame "the folks" in Minnesota.

As far as I have heard everything is fine. I believe they have had or are having a few tournaments in that area that should expose any flaws that might exist in their tournament plans, providing them with ample time to make the adjustments needed to have a successful tournament.
