I just want to clarify and make sure that everyone knows Georgia is not trash talking. I think my teammate (laxdawg) was excited about a big win over a very talented and respected Tennessee team. UT played a great game and I know they will be right there in Atlanta at the end of the season. Furthermore, this Georgia team is going to try and earn respect from our opponents in the SELC by working hard to win games on the field. Good luck to everyone in their upcoming games.

Auburn didn't forfeit. Evidently there were issues/schedule delays with the fields in Arlington due to the poor weather. The game was postponed and Auburn had a mandatory bus schedule they had to keep. (Bus driver can only drive X amount of hours in a day, etc.)

All I can say at this time is that the LSA and SELC leadership are discussing the issue and an annoucement will be made when it is appropriate. Do not jump to any sort of conclusions.

I was up in Charlotte this weekend and decided at the last minute to drive up to Davidson. I would have caught more of the game had there been any parking on campus (hoops game?) Gorgeous campus, by the way...Anyway, I got to the field just as half-time was ending.

Davidson looked alot better than I expected. Good fundamentals for the most part, but no overpowering threats on offense that I saw. They already had a 2 goal lead when I got there, and played pretty even with USC excepting an illegal stick call on USC to start the 4th. I think Davidson got 2 out of that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In any case, I witnessed Clemson and Presbyterian a week or two back. And, I'm ashamed to admit I think both these teams would walk over Clemson. Not necessarily because of talent, but because of organization.

After seeing GT and UGA, I will say UGA has perhaps the best tallent I've seen out of Athens in years. It's hard to say what to expect from GT since it was their first game of the year, but I think their tallent might be a little down this year. Maybe it's because they didn't show any players that really stood out like Oakley in the past. Again early season games are difficult at best to figure.

This game was a real killer for me because, as an old UT Alum, the Jackets are still public enemy #1 in the SELC dating back to the early 80's. When every one else was playing Bush League, and GT was running rough shod over everyone.

Congrats to UGA, we have no excuse they played better than us in an extremely over officiated game. 28 penalties were called between the two teams. EMO units logged more minutes than the regular lines. I really didn't think either team deserved it.

I'm definitely going to have to agree with coach White about how the UT VS UGA game was officiated. The officials through the flags for too many unsportsman like conducts when I've seen much worse not get called by these same officials in highschool games. I was at the GT VS. UT game on Friday night and that game was officiated much more reasonably. But I'm definitely not making excuses for either team. I'm just agreeing with coach White.

There's not really a quick fix for that type of officiating (which we also get here in Tallahassee). Refs who usually officiate HS games tend to lean more toward throwing the flag than I think they should in a college game. The best thing you can do is discuss the situation with the Head official (Eric Rudolph) and make your position known. It's not like he's likely to send out a memo to refs not to call a ton of fouls. I also know from experience that once they call one conduct foul, you have a choice...shut up or stay man down.

Or you could do one better, and recruit people to be refs. Eric will be UBER supportive, and with enough participation, is likely to bring in tallent from every corner to help train the newbies. We have a real shortage, especially in places like the South. I am a firm believer that every team at every level should be required to recruit and have certified at least one official per year.

its tough in isolated lacrosse areas like gainesville, tallahassee, athens, we usually get very good refs here in orlando. the region gets a ton of ncaa games every year and the same guys do the IA games.

Some of the stories I hear from the alumns are pretty crazy. That was when GT was playing more D1 & D3 teams than club teams when the NCAA scheduling points and rules were a lot less defined. Apparently Tech lost by one or two to the 1986 National Champion UNC team and regularly played teams like Duke, UNC and Georgetown. I'd definitely like to get more of this info documented and written down online if I can hunt down some of those older players.

Could you imagine what it would be like if an MDIA team could play 'cuse to a 8-7 game? Maybe in a few years

Congrats to UT on a very exciting game, I wish every game could have that kind of energy. Being out of the game for a year for study abroad, its good to be back and play such a close game. The defenses on both teams were very good, and is definatley the strongest part of our game with the majority being returning players.

Its easy to say we have lost some talent when we lose the most talented offensive player in the League in Will Oakley and the offensive tourney MVP in Gary Bridges. They both came in the same year as I did and they will be very missed in our lineup. There isnt a freshman in the world that can replace the senior leadership that Oaks and Gary had.

With that said, we only look forward to having exciting games with all the SELC teams this year, and having great post season play here in Atlanta. For those fortunate teams last year I think you can vouch that it was a great tourney.
