Nothing like waiting until the last minute! :D

They've got about 5 hours left, at least in my time zone. Less if they meant EST.

Why is this decision so difficult?

I wish we knew now, and I think the more we wait the more troublesome this tournament gets. I think with the season starting in a month it might be best to keep it in Minnesota. I know this does not make many people in the south happy, but the event is in 5 months. Minnesota knows what has to be done in that time. It is the experience factor. I am not sure Dallas can make all the preparations in this short of time. This year the game times need to be set weeks in advance. We need to make sure the host knows where volunteers are needed and when. This was ridiculous last year. Minnesota had no clue what to do, because nobody would tell them. I was one of the few that was able to volunteer a great deal, because I had morning classes and could easily get away from school. This tournament is a big deal, and I think it would be best to set the details quickly.

Apparently US Lacrosse is still waiting on some final budget numbers, both internally and externally. We're all disappointed this has taken so long, and everyone in the IA leadership is anticipating an announcement along with all of you. We'll alert all of the conference leaders directly, and everyone else through this board, when an announcement is finally made.

I've held my toungue about USL's handling of this issue, the USLIA-MDIA and the tournament for some time. I will continue to do so on the latter two for a bit longer.

But with respect to the first issue (siting the tourney) I'll make the following comments:

First, I'll make any type of significant bet that USL will not allow the championship back in Minnesota.

Second, with all due respect to John Paul, it is my opinion that the delay is the result of USL's focus on the upcoming coaches convention, not anything else.

That is certainly debatable. If the event is moved to Frisco (outside Dallas), I don't think our event will draw fan support from far-away Texas cities like Houston, San Antonio, or Austin (especially Tuesday thru Friday). Regardless of where we play the event, fan support will be luke-warm. We are going to ALWAYS have a tough time attract any amount of fans for the early rounds.

There will be at least one fan from San Antonio truckin on up. I will be there for the final, or, if my former team gets there, for Puget Sound's games (as many as I can, it is finals week).
