NCAA Basketball news

Postby Brent Burns on Sat Dec 17, 2005 9:24 pm

This is my attempt to get any info from any folks from Arizona. I am wondering if Jawaan McClennan is going to be back on the Arizona Wildcats basketball team. I know he was been prevented by the NCAA from being on the team due to academics. That was when I read that his father died from a heart attack last spring or summer. He graduated from Charles H. Milby in Houston two years ago.

I know Ethan will be thrilled to know that his Vols (read: unranked) handed the Texas Longhorns its second straight defeat/second straight game being routed.

Gentlemen, America's Team* (read: Tennessee) has beaten the formerly ranked #2 Longhorns. TU goes down by 17! Unfortunately, Tennessee could not once again bail out the Texans (read: Alamo). This is all that campus needs what with the criminal investigation of the football defensive backfield. Merry Christmas!

This is a welcome bit of news in what has been a grim last four months. That new coach we have is paying off. You know the Pearl guy, late of UW-Milwaukee, who took his last team to the Sweet 16. Bruce Pearl, much like our football coach Phat Fill, is a snitch (previous while an assistant at Iowa he ratted out Illinois for recruiting violations 15 years ago) but who cares. 8-0 for the first time in forever. Just win, baby!

*Tennessee is America's Team (just like the Braves and the Cowboys). How? Because I thought of it first. Ever since Tennessee first made the MDIA National Tournament way back in '99 for the first time, arriving in a bus that broke down three times on just the trip from Knoxville, I referred to them as "the best team dollar for dollar in America." Out of this statement grew the nickname "America's Team" as the people of Fenton, Mo, then St. Louis proper, and on to the hard working people of East St. Louis, IL and beyond fell in love with the plucky kids with heart from East Tennessee.
Dagger!
