Lacrosse Frustrations!

This is my third season to play Lacrosse; and recently, while throwing and catching, my Blade snapped. HAving been the first time to break a head since i've started playing, i assumed it was the weather. Later that week, after i borrowed a friends, I broke his head too after just catching and throwing! Then, I ordered another blade, restrung it, and it broke the first time I ever used it (it was slightly chilly outside). You could see why this could be quite frustrating... I'm now trying to think of why it could be happening, maybe it is just bad luck, and what head I should buy for christmas? I prefer something pinched, but other than that I don't really have too many specifications (I'm a middie that doesn't face off often). Thanks ahead of time.

Couple Thoughts,

When it starts to get cold outside, take a shower with your stick. The heat keeps the head flexible so that it wont break when you play with it.

Some heads to try: Gait Torque, Brine E3, STX Proton Power

It's probably just plain bad luck. Once the temps get below 32, I'm not sure there is a whole lot you can do. Growing up in the northeast, I've spent many cold days playing wall ball - and once in a while the stick can just break...Ideally you want a few strung heads already broken in and ready to go in case this happens.

I also think it's bad luck and/or the Blade could be defected.

I went 3 or 4 years before breaking my first head then went on a head breaking spree and broke 4 in less than a year.

Blade's seem to break easily to me from what I have seen.

I agree. The only thing is that you don't actually have to take the stick into the shower. And it's actually the steam that is the cure. When it's cold, it's typically really dry.

Really dry sticks get brittle very fast. I used to do this back in my playing days and I had a stick last as many as 8 years.

I'd suggest a different head, because many of my friends have had the Blade and they all broke. It's not very pinched, but one of the heads I've played with is the X2. It has been hit, twisted and beat up without any damage. The Revo Pro and STX Bionic are 2 strong heads as well.

Brine Matrix...very good head, pinched, and strong too. I know a lot of D-Pole's who play with them

I've got a bionic on warrior krypto pro shaft, and it's lasted me three seasons plus wisconsin winter wall-ball, so I'll suggest a bionic. My brother just got a stx kannon, and swears by it; but he hasn't played long enough with it to say how long it'll go without breaking.

I played the warranty game with warrior and their Blade after having three of them break. Since then I've moved to the revo (not the pro) and i've had successes with both of them. One was baked for a slight pinch and turned out to be a really great stick, while the un-baked one broke after a season. I've had two brine nitrous heads which were both pretty sweet, but each succumbed to warping after a season...still, it was a great head, especially for fielding ground balls.

That said, my new Harrow H2 is the best head that I've used. It's really pinched, stiff and very light. My only complaint is that the shape of the string holes on the top of the head seem to accelerate the wear on the nylon strings.
